HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-10-05-HDC-min Town of Lexington Historic Districts Commission Minutes of October 5, 2000 Commissioners in attendance: Mark DiNapoli, Dan Fenn, Joann Gschwendtner, Lynn Hopkins, and Associate Commissioners Jeffrey Denzak and Eleanor MacQueen PETITIONS HEARD: 31 Hancock Street – Marc Bohn received approval to install a paver driveway. Certificate No. 2000C-93 10 Depot Square – Lexington Historical Society – Gardner Hayward presented plans for a temporary construction sign to be put on the Depot Building. Commissioners felt sign was too large and asked that it be scaled down to fit between columns. Hearing continued to November. Ms. Gschwendtner recused herself from the hearing. 9 Hancock Street – Dawn McKenna received approval to remove herb garden, add crusher run driveway for three cars, replace existing fencing, removal of concrete post, relocate stones by front door. Certificate No. 2000C-94 1844 Massachusetts Avenue – Crafty Yankee Home – Kathy Fields received approval to remove the existing awning, including repairing brick and mortar, and replace with projecting sign. Continued for sign detail. Certificate No. 2000C-95 CONTINUED: 10 Muzzey Street – Christian Science Reading Room – Susan LaPointe received approval for a wooden literature box painted to match existing trim to be placed below the front window by the door. Certificate No. 2000C-96 905 Mass. Avenue – Jack Shay received approval to build a 2 foot rock wall, using existing rocks, to be located along property line on rear side. Metal vent stack will be moved to rear northwest side. Certificate No. 2000C-97 884 Mass. Avenue – David Kelland received approval to extend porch by 18 inches and replace windows with 6x6 Brosco true divided light. Certificate No. 2000C-98 6 Meriam Street – Church of our Redeemer – Sara Bittenbender received approval to move previously approved bench from rear of church to side by handicap entrance. Certificate No. 2000C-99 1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE • LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02420 Minutes of October 5, 2000 (concluded) INFORMALS: 10 Muzzey Street – Laurel Carey, representing Jennifer Patterson, would like to put up a new sign. Sign would match colors of other signs on building. Commission would not approve a logo. 14 Muzzey Street – Tracey Patterson came before the commission regarding parking problems. Commission suggested sign by driveway entrance and possibly on the Mews building and fence. Signs should have as few words as possible. Ms. Patterson also asked for guidance on replacing fence and repainting building. Commission suggested black vinyl coated chain link; also would be agreeable to change in building colors. The minutes of September 7, 2000 were approved. The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 p.m.
