HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-05-04-HDC-min Town of Lexington Historic Districts Commission Minutes of May 4, 2000 Commissioners in attendance: Ian Adamson, Dan Fenn, Joann Gschwendtner, and Lynn Hopkins; Associate Commissioners: Eleanor MacQueen and Jeff Denzak. Joe Marino introduced himself and the Economic Development Officer and discussed with the Commissioners what his job is and what he is plans are for the future. PETITIONS HEARD: 1734 Mass. Avenue - Artinian Jewelers - Petition for two exterior signs showing services was denied. Artinian will consider hanging a sign on the interior. Certificate No. 2000C-50 1099 Mass. Avenue - Wendy Strothman received approval to repaint her home Benjamin Moore Hawthorne Yellow; trim Navaho White and door blue (HC158). Certificate No. 2000C-35 1749 Mass. Avenue - Peet's Coffee and Tea - Jerry Wyman was denied his request for a blade sign and larger front sign. Commission agreed to Peet's request for two (2) 8"x8" Peet's logo sign on bottom of angled glass doorway. One Oakland Street - Janet Tiampo received approval cedar lattice work added to back fence and put sand around play set; add fieldstone pavers to side yard; change blue stone patio to grass with blue stone border. Continued for screen door color; fencing in front; and blue stone stones in front yard. Certificate No. 2000C-37 905 Mass. Avenue - Jack Shay received approval for new foundation on front, reroofing and reclapboard front; replacement of windows on sides with Norco and repair of front windows. Continued for detail. Certificate No. 2000C-38 1116 Mass. Avenue - Randall Conrad and Christine Dall received approval to replace two (2) twin unit windows on left of house with Brosco windows to match existing on house. Certificate No. 2000C-39 1994 Mass. Avenue - Joyce Roetter presented plans for an addition to rear of home. Continued for detail. 72 Waltham Street - Eric and Kim Zanin received approval for a 42" fence for all but around the driveway. Continued for driveway fencing and front door. Vote 4-1 with Ms. Gschwendter opposing. Certificate No. 2000C-40 1984 Mass. Avenue - Cynthia Davidson received approval for a playset for a 10-year period in a location acceptable to the Roetter at 1994 Mass. Avenue. Certificate No. 2000C-41 1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE • LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02420 Minutes of May 4, 2000 (concluded) 2006 Mass. Avenue - Ed and Christel McCarthy received approval for a fieldstone wall along the westerly property line, not to be more than 2 feet high. Certificate No. 2000C-42 1761 Mass. Avenue - Fleet Bank - Kris Loughlin received approval for a bronze sign letters same height as existing and 1/4" thick. Also approved color logo. Only one sign was requested for the building. Certificate No. 2000C-43 763 Mass. Avenue - Follen Church Parsonage - Mart Ojamma received approval to replace 19 windows and storms with Brosco wood windows. Existing exterior trim will be patched and painted as necessary. Certificate No. 2000C-44 7 Bedford Street - Julie Schauman received approval for a field stone wall on either side of driveway. Continued for driveway, light, and chimney top. Certificate No. 2000C-45 915-917 Massachusetts Avenue - Bill and David Rothfuchs received approval for renovating the front house, footprint of new home in rear, and demolition of 915 Mass. Avenue. Commission asked for roof samples at next meeting. Vote 4-1 with Denzak opposing. Continued for more detail. Certificate No. 2000C-46 6 Parker Street - Peter Kelly representing the Liano's - Mr. Kelly was unable to attend meeting; sent letter asking for permission. Commission had questions; hearing continued to June. CONTINUED HEARINGS 2027 Mass. Avenue - Dana Home - Steve Hurley received approval for an addition, signage, landscaping, elevator, removal of existing fire escape, and renovation of porch. Certificate No. 2000C-47 1775 Mass. Avenue - Carlson Real Estate - Ed Juralewicz received approval for three (3) signs. Certificate No. 2000C-48 RCN - No one from RCN showed for meeting regarding pedestals. 31 Curve Street - Bill and David Rothfuchs received approval for a color change. Continued for detail on handholes. Certificate No. 2000C-49 INFORMAL HEARINGS Depot Building - David Wells, Historical Society, unable to stay for meeting. Will attend another meeting in future. 2030 Mass. Avenue - Ann Strominger discussed soffit and ridge vent. Will return for formal meeting in June. 7 Percy Road - Masoud Sanayei and Matthew Thenen discussed with the Commission the possibility of demolishing home and rebuilding bigger home. The meeting was adjourned at 1:15 a.m. Friday.
