RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING
February 15, 2006

AGENDA:
1.Citizens and other boards
There were no citizens or other board members present.
2.Meeting Minutes
The minutes of the January 18, 2006 Recreation Committee meeting were accepted by a vote
of 3-0.
3. Welcome Bob Boudreau
Sandra Shaw welcomed new member Bob Boudreau to the Recreation Committee.
4.Lincoln Park Update
Karen Simmons informed the Recreation Committee that DPW would be installing a
guardrail around the fields at Lincoln to protect them from vehicle access. Cars got on to
Field #2 this winter and did “donuts”. The money for the guardrail will come out of the
article. Work on the Overlook is proceeding, but at least a month’s worth of work remains
before the project is finished. The contractor will be reminded to lock the Lincoln Street
chain gate nightly.
Karen Simmons reported that Dave Pinsonneault had met recently with McLaughlin
Construction, who will be handling the sewer connection at Lincoln Park. Work will begin
once the contract has been completed.
5.Recreation Committee Member on CPA Committee
The Recreation Committee voted 3 – 0 to name Sandra Shaw as the Recreation Committee
member to the Community Preservation Act Committee, pending approval of the CPA by
Lexington voters on March 6, 2006.

6.Budget
Karen Simmons provided the Recreation Committee with the updated Enterprise Fund
Budget for FY07 and a copy of the FY05 performance measurements.
7. Fees
Karen Simmons outlined for the Recreation Committee the proposal to modestly increase
fees for Recreation Programs. She explained the rationale, anticipated revenue, and proposed
increase date to the committee.
The Recreation Committee broke the vote into two components.
a. Program Fees – approved 3 – 0.
b. Field Permit Fees – approved 3 – 0.
8. Town Meeting Articles
Recreation Committee members were reminded that they would be presenting the Capital
Articles at the upcoming Town Meeting. Karen Simmons will let members know the
evening the article will be on the floor. Members were reminded that if they need assistance
with their presentation materials to contact the Karen now.

Rick DeAngelis – Pine Meadows Equipment
Pam Varrin – Pool Infrastructure Study
Dick Thuma agreed to act as the “back-up” presenter for all Recreation Capital Articles.
9. Parks Report
Dave Pinsonneault had no new Parks updates. He will report to the Committee at the March
meeting.
New Business
The next meeting of the Recreation Committee will be held on Wednesday, March 15,
2006 at 7:30 p.m. in Room G15
The meeting adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
