Heiger-Bernays called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
The Board reviewed the minutes of the March 21, 2007 meeting. Feldman motioned to
accept the minutes as written. Thompson seconded. All approved.
The Board reviewed the data reports and Public Health Nurse report.
Variance Requests for the Peacock Farm and Five Fields Pools – Heiger-Bernays
motioned to grant variances for one year for both facilities with the requirement of having
the proper signage posted that indicates lifeguards are not on duty for the users of the
facility to read. Perlmutter seconded. All approved.
Food Safety Training Requirements for Food Establishments – The Board asked
Fullerton to draft regulations for adoption by the Board requiring that all food
establishments have a Food Safety Certified employee on duty during all hours of
operation.
Pandemic Steering Committee Update – Fullerton advised the Board about the first
meeting of the Pandemic Steering Committee that comprised of Health Director,
Fullerton; Town Manager, Carl Valente; Fire Chief and Emergency Management
Director, Bill Middlemess; and School Nurse Administrator, Jill Gasparini. A local
pandemic planning outline was reviewed. The steering committee decided to first focus
on continuity of operations planning for the entire organization. The second item will be
public education and outreach.
Home Preparedness Planning: Education, Awareness, Webpage – Fullerton attended the
Medical Reserve Best Practices Conference and attended the training on home
preparedness planning. Some of the resources will be placed on the Lexington town
website as well as a press release in the “Lexington Minuteman.”
Medical Reserve Corp Update – Fullerton informed the Board of a recent email
requesting more volunteers. Three individuals have been identified as President, Vice
President and Secretary but they need more help. Six or seven more individuals came
forth.
Region 4a Funding – Lexington has received $5600.00 from the Region to be used for
Flu Pandemic Planning. Fullerton would like to use some of the funds to contract an
individual planner for conducting an emergency dispensing site exercise either at the
2007 or 2008 flu clinic.
ICS Training – Fullerton, Fox and Moser attended a recent ICS200 Training. Fullerton
recommended to the Board to take the ICS100 and NIMS 700 training, which is available
through the Federal Emergency Management Agency online.
Pool Information Night for Permitted Pool Managers and Operators – Fox will meet with
th
pool managers and operators on April 17 to answer any questions and discuss the
regulations before the inspections.
Update on Article 16 – Heiger-Bernays informed the Board that Town Meeting passed
Article 16 Engine Idling bylaw. Heiger-Bernays would like to discuss the enforcement
requirements with the Police Department.
Tobacco Compliance Checks of 3/21/07 – Fullerton advised the Board that one
establishment did not pass the recent tobacco compliance check conducted by the
Tobacco Coalition.
Feldman motioned to adjourn. Perlmutter seconded. All approved.
