Peggy, Stew, Richard and Jerry attended the Transportation Summit on June 6.

Cary Hall.
Patria from the Ride Cafe gave a glowing endorsement of the pilot bike parking
space on Mass. Ave. Congratulations to Melisa Tintocalis for helping to expand
bike parking opportunities on the south side of Mass. Ave. From all reports it
seems to be a great success and will benefit all downtown merchants.
If members of our committee have not already done so, they are encouraged to
take the MAPC transportation survey. Stew will forward the web address.
Russ Brami, from Snowy Owl Maps in Lexington, will begin to work on the

Voters of Lexington. Although we endorse the concept, we decided not to be an
active participant at this time due to limited resources.
Peggy and Richard attended a 3 -hour Complete Streets workshop in Watertown
presented by Bay State Roads and MassDOT. At this time John Livsey is looking
into offering the workshop in Lexington -- in the three- and six -hour forms -- here to
provide town staff and citizens an opportunity to understand the concept of
complete streets.
Jerry Van Hook agreed to write a paragraph for the Lexington Minuteman to
answer a question about which side of the bike path walkers should be on and
why. Stew will help edit the response; it will be submitted on behalf of both the
Sidewalk Committee and LBAC.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:08 pm.
Record of the Discussion of the Friends of Lexington Bikeways:
The treasurer reported an expense of $100 toward the 100 $2 coupons given at
the Farmers' Market (the Farmers' Market contributes the other $100).
A report of the two rides on May 19 was sent to the Town Manager and the Board
of Selectmen. These rides were led by Laurel and Stew.
This year we collected about 90 bikes for Bikes Not Bombs. Although the
collection is decreasing each year, Marita felt it important to sponsor Bike
Donation Day on a regular basis so citizens can count on it.
The Ride Cafe is providing maintenance support for the MassBike Ride on July 28
The next bike corral at the Farmers Market is July 10. Laurel offered to work from
5:00 to 6:00 that afternoon.
Other business: Patria reported on a Bikewell 40 mile ride in Lincoln with lunch.
The meeting adjourned 8:45 p.m.
