MINUTES
Greenways Corridor Committee
May 21, 4:30 -6 pm
Legion Room, Cary Hall
Members Present Rick Abrams, Alex Dohan, Eileen Entin, Bob Hausslein, Stew
Kennedy, Paul Knight, Keith Ohmart, Mike Tabaczynski
Members Absent Peggy Enders
Other Attendees Deb Mauger (Board of Selectmen liaison)
1. Votes:
• April 30 meeting Minutes - approved
• May 14 ACROSS Lexington Subcommittee Minutes -approved
2. Current Business Updates:
• Drummer Boy trail easement (Bob /Stew) — still w/ Drummer Boy board;
we will wait for their next step.
• Highland Ave/Pelham Road (Bob) — Bob has contacted abutters and will
keep working with them.
• Wood Street trail improvement (Paul) — Keith noted that Jay Sklar has
broken the project into two parts. The first part will connect Conestoga Rd
to Bates Rd, and does not impact the wetland area. The trail segment that
includes the wetland area will be a different permit application for a later
date.
• Diamond Trail project (Stew) — a Scout has agreed to do the trail work as
an Eagle project. Mike, Bob & Stew scheduled a walk for 5/22/12 to flag
the trail route. The work will probably be done in July. Stew also spoke
with Ginna Johnson regarding her work on the DMS landscape committee
• Action Item — Bob — Highland/Pelham follow -up
• Action Item — Alex — contact Ginna Johnson
3. Current Business Review:
Report on ACROSS Lexington project
Mike presented his comprehensive trail marking system that is intended
for all trails in town. He showed a spreadsheet that includes sign
descriptions, install methods, marker types, and much more. We had a
discussion about what it would actually look like in the field, which was
met with general approval. Questions came up regarding our Town
information on Google Maps or Open Street Map websites. The Town
needs to oversee that. The Town will also need to approve Mike's plan
before giving signage permissions to ACROSS.
We need to keep Peggy's bikeway signage group apprised of GCC
signage work, and it would be helpful if Peggy could keep us abreast of
what her consultant is working on.
Further discussion regarding the order in which we need to seek approvals
from the Town and the Historic Districts Commission. Deb will look into
