Minutes <br />Fund for Lexington <br />March 19, 2001 <br />Present: Krieger, McKenna, Walsh, and Colletti <br />Stephen Baran, Human Services Coordinator <br />Next Meeting: Monday, June 18, 2001 <br />Ratify Poll Vote (2/14/01) - $1,034.00 for one months rent for NN — APPROVED <br />Requests from Human Services Coordinator (all names disguised): <br />1. Shannon Bart - $1,754.45 for purchase of mattress, foundation and frame <br />—APPROVED <br />2. Howard Pullman - $2,200 to overcome gap due to temporary <br />unemployment — APPROVED <br />3. Pat Keller - $4,305 for prosthodontics, periodontics and oral surgery — Up <br />to $4,305 approved. Steve to arrange a phase payment plan with Tufts. <br />Property Tax Work -off Volunteers — Additional justification required. <br />Request for Funds for The Master Singers — APPROVED $1,000.00 <br />Discounts for People with Disabilities — Board will refer to the Enablement Committee. <br />Other Items: <br />Joe Nugent and Linda Smith discussed their observations in our Assessor's Office. <br />Residents ask for assistance with their taxes, but are often reluctant to share their <br />concerns with the Assessors' Office. Joe and his staff will refer residents to Steve Baran <br />who can help assess their need and make appropriate referrals. In Sudbury, where Joe <br />lives, the Board of Assessors has been directed by the Selectmen and /or Town Meeting to <br />use a liberal interpretation of Chapter 18, a state abatement program. The Selectmen will <br />learn more about Chapter 18 and we will monitor the impact of the circuit breaker <br />legislation. The latter should provide aid to residents in need. <br />Fund Balance: (as of February 2001) <br />Income: $42,070.92 <br />Money approved but not spent from 11/17/2000 meeting $ 3,750.00 <br />Money available until next fundraiser $38,320.92 <br />(does not include approved items from 3/19/01 meeting) <br />
