Minutes <br />Fund for Lexington <br />June 18, 2001 <br />Present: Mrs. McKenna, Mr. McSweeney, Mr. Walsh, Stephen Baran, Human Services <br />Coordinator and Ms. Smith, Clerk <br />Next Meetings: Wednesday, September 19 and Wednesday, December 12, 2001 <br />1. It was voted to ratify the following poll votes: <br />a. Grant request of $862 for tuition and $1,000 for first months rent to Tracy Krueger. <br />b. Grant request for $4,775 to defray costs of first month's rent and living costs to John <br />Walter. <br />C. Grant request for $1,500 for debating scholarship for Jennifer Manual. <br />2. Requests from Human Services Coordinator: <br />a. Fund members felt a repeat request from Mrs. Jackson for a kindergarten scholarship for <br />her son does not fall under the Fund's intended purpose. It was voted to deny Mrs. <br />Jackson's request. <br />b. Fund members felt a repeat request from Mrs. Roberts for attendance at summer <br />programs for her three children also does not fall under the Fund's intended purpose. It <br />was voted to deny Mrs. Roberts' request. <br />C. Fund members felt that Mr. Baran should help Mrs. Goode pursue scholarship for <br />extended kindergarten for her son. It was voted to deny Mrs. Goode's request. <br />3. It was voted to rescind a vote of November 17, 2000 for $3,750 for roof and chimney repair <br />to Pamela Maynard because of her unwillingness to reimburse the Fund if and when she <br />might receive an insurance settlement. <br />4. It was voted to grant a request from the Center Committee for $2,300 for twice a year <br />planting in the barrels in the Center. The Board wanted to make sure that the plantings are <br />done in East Lexington also. <br />Mrs. McKenna felt it was important to avoid poll votes as much as possible because it is <br />beneficial to hear the comments of other Fund Board members. Mr. Baran was also asked to <br />provide the names and addresses of the individuals asking for assistance. <br />The meeting concluded at 5:00 p.m. <br />
