Town of Lexington <br />Sustainable Lexington Committee <br />Minutes of Meeting of October 11, 2011 <br />The kickoff event for the Sustainable Lexington Committee's (SLC's) Better Buildings <br />program was held on October 11, 2011 at Cary Hall. A quorum of four committee <br />members was present. <br />Members Present: Mark Sandeen, Chair <br />Rick Abrams, Ken Moraff, Todd Rhodes <br />Members Absent: None <br />Other Attendees: Travis Estes, Next Step Living (NSL) <br />Pasi Miettinen, Sagewell Inc. <br />Approximately 42 residents attended the presentation <br />The meeting began at 7:30 pm. <br />The Better Buildings kickoff event featured three presentations. <br />Mr. Sandeen opened the meeting with a presentation to introduce the SLC's Better <br />Buildings program. The presentation included a description of energy use in Lexington <br />and the objectives of the Better Buildings program. <br />Mr. Miettinen presented the results of work conducted by his firm to assess the energy <br />efficiency performance of residential buildings through the analysis of infrared (IR) <br />images. His presentation included a discussion of commonly held myths about residential <br />building energy efficiency. <br />Mr. Estes described the work conducted by NSL as part of the MassSave program, <br />including the home energy audit process, and the activities involved in implementing air <br />sealing and insulation. <br />The presentations concluded at 8:30 and participants were invited to talk more and enjoy <br />coffee (provided by the Bedford Road Starbucks) and ice cream (provided by <br />Rancatore's) in the lobby of Cary Hall. <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />Todd Rhodes, Scribe <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />
