Lexington Special Tree Committee Minutes of December 13, 2011, <br />201 Bedford Street, Samuel Hadley Public Service Building, Room 125. <br />Attendees: John Frey (Chairman) Karen Longeteig, Anne Senning, Jim Wood. Written <br />inputs from Jewel Kulj ian, Nell Walker. <br />Principle reason for the Special Meeting was to select trees for the Spring 2012 planting <br />although other business was conducted. <br />Jim Wood volunteered to be scribe and the Tree Committee Minutes of December 8, <br />2011 were approved as modified. <br />Tree Selection for Spring 2012 Nursery Planting <br />Dave Pinsonneault and Chris Filadoro recommended we only plan for 60 trees due to the <br />backlog in the Nursery requiring outplanting in 2012. The Tree Committee agreed with <br />this and proceeded with a 60 tree selection. <br />Two Categories were chosen: Setback and Street Trees <br />Setback: Number <br />10 <br />10 <br />10 <br />5 <br />5 <br />Type <br />Plum Prunus Nigra (Princess Kay) <br />Sourwood <br />Carolina Silverbell <br />Accolade Flowering Cherry <br />American Smoke Tree <br />Street: Number Type <br />5 Shagbark Hickory <br />5 Princeton Elm <br />5 Sweetgum <br />5 Yellow Wood <br />10 Honeylocust <br />Review of Letter to Selectmen: John Frey had prepared a letter to the Selectmen on <br />personnel recommendations(Town Budget Increases) to overcome the Tree Nursery <br />Backlog and complete the Tree Inventory in Precincts 7, 8, & 9, which would complete <br />the inventory for the entire Town of Lexington- Street Trees.
