Town of Lexington <br />Sustainable Lexington Committee <br />Minutes of Meeting of July 26, 2011 <br />A meeting of the Sustainable Lexington Committee (SLC) was held on July 26, 2011 at <br />Town Hall. A quorum of four was present. <br />Members Present: Mark Sandeen, Chair <br />Risk Abrams, Ken Moraff, Todd Rhodes <br />Members Absent: None <br />Other Attendees: None <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. <br />Minutes from the June 27, 2011 meeting were approved. <br />Mr. Rhodes presented the results of research into the question "What plans are in place to <br />ensure that Lexington residents have access to potable water if there is a disruption in <br />supply from MWRA`? '. The presentation was titled Water Resources Dol.ppt. <br />Recommended next steps included: <br />• Contact MWRA to identify what backup plans are in place to address a long -term <br />disruption. <br />• Identify whether other towns have developed plans to deal with long -term <br />disruptions and identify typical capacity of potable water storage maintained by <br />other MWRA towns. <br />• Request a meeting with MWRA to discuss plans to deal with long -term <br />disruptions. Invitees could include DPW staff, Selectmen, representatives from <br />surrounding towns. <br />Mr. Moraff discussed the status of efforts to identify opportunities to implement Green <br />Infrastructure technologies to improve stormwater management. He has not yet been able <br />to set up meetings with the Planning Board or Conservation Commission. Mr. Moraff did <br />meet with John Livesey and learned that the Town hired a consultant to review <br />stormwater and stream management in the Charles River Watershed to identify priority <br />improvement projects. The full consultant's report is available at the DPW and Mr. <br />Moraff and Mr. Rhodes plan to meet at the DPW to review the results. <br />Mr. Sandeen reported that the MOU with NextStep Living (NSL) has been signed and the <br />manager assigned to work with Lexington will begin work in August 2011. NSL is <br />working to set up a website for Lexington and plans to launch the program with a <br />meeting in Lexington in September.
