Lexington Human Rights Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />October 7, 2011 <br />Present: Albert Zabin, Bob Kent, Fuang -Ping Huang, Linda Vine, Michael McLean, <br />Emily Lavine, Leona Martin, Puran Dan, Hank Manz, Bonnie Brodner, Arthur Katz, and <br />Nancy Earsy <br />Meeting was called to order at 8:10 am. <br />September, 2011's minutes were approved <br />Planning committee update on the 11/06/11 event: <br />• Grand request sent to Lexington Fund, the Fund's next meeting is October 18 <br />• Draft of Lexington/national civil rights time line completed. Susan and Nancy <br />will finalize it and have it mounted for display in the lobby of Carry Hall for the <br />event <br />• Draft of Event's program finalized <br />• Ellen Michelman & Natalie Riffin have not committed to be on the panel <br />• Leona and Fuang will meet with Ben Aaronson for press release on Lexington <br />Minuteman <br />Al and Bob will incorporate the message that the work on civil rights in Lexington is not <br />done, and the human rights issues we are facing now in their opening and closing <br />speeches. <br />Linda confirms there is $1,000 fund balance from an old grant received while we were a <br />NPFH community. The committee decided $500 honorarium each to Edgar Smith and <br />Rev. Landon Lindsey for their travel expenses <br />Bonnie will look into transportation for METCO famthanktilies who will like to attend <br />the event. <br />Possibility of a dinner at Depot Square after the event for the panelists and committee. <br />Police Report provided by Lt. Michael McLean — regarding some hate graffiti which was <br />general in nature and not directed at any target. This may appear to be more of a <br />domestic issue once the investigation is complete. <br />The meeting adjourned at 9:00 am. Next meeting set on November 4 2011. <br />
