<br />Minutes <br />Town Celebrations Committee <br />June 22, 2011 <br />Town Office Building, Room G-15 <br /> <br />Members present <br />Suzie Barry, Linda Dixon, Mary Gillespie, Jo-Anne Granger, Julie Miller, Wayne Miller, <br />Henry Murphy, Sandy Podgorski, Charlie Price and Bob Tracey <br /> <br />Members not present <br />Dick Crogan, Paul Jenkins, Sondra Lucente, Bill Mix, John Rossi, Jim Shaw and Dave <br />Taylor <br /> <br />Business <br /> <br /> Suzie Barry called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm. <br /> <br /> May 26, 2011 minutes were accepted with two changes. <br /> <br />Memorial Day 2011 Recap <br /> <br /> DPW did not fulfill all of our requests for the morning. <br /> <br /> Suzie will meet with DPW to talk about our committee’s needs. <br /> <br /> Buglers were late, missed the Westview Cemetery stop. <br /> <br /> We will need more water next year. <br /> <br />th <br />300 Update and Discussion <br /> <br /> The Selectmen were apprised of the subcommittee’s progress. <br /> <br /> Event kick-off is scheduled for September 22 and 23, 2012, ending on Memorial Day <br />2013. <br /> <br /> A Lexington resident will donate a titanium (time) capsule. <br />th <br /> <br /> Suzie will get 300 pins for committee members. <br /> <br /> An historic fashion show is being planned for sometime in February 2013. <br />th <br /> <br /> The 300’s website should be up and running this coming September. <br />th <br /> <br /> Regarding the Patriots’ Day parade -- the 300 subcommittee wants the Town <br />Celebrations Committee to handle it. Subcommittee members are suggesting the parade <br />commemorate the anniversary with possibly moving the parade from Monday to Sunday <br />for 2013 only. <br /> <br /> The idea of installing a clock at Depot Square was discussed. It was suggested that <br />the time capsule, which could be sealed on Memorial Day 2013, be placed in the base of <br />the clock for a 50-year duration. <br /> <br /> Field and Garden Club will plant special gardens. <br /> <br /> LHS Pops Chorus will plan something special. <br /> <br /> Tours and a community picnic are also being discussed. <br /> <br /> Things to work on – fund-raising, Minuteman statue refurbishing, i.e. <br /> <br />Other Business <br /> <br /> Town Celebration Committee membership reappointments were approved. <br /> <br /> John Rossi has decided not to return to the committee. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 pm. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Sandy Podgorski <br />
