<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />APPROVED MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br /> <br />Committee Name: Lexington Bicycle Advisory Committee <br /> <br />Date, Time and Location of Meeting: <br />June 9, 2011, 7 pm, Room 111 of the <br />Town Office Building <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> Peggy Enders (Chair) George Gagliardi, Stew Kennedy, Jerry <br />Van Hook, John Frey, Richard Canale (Planning Board Liaison) <br /> <br />Others Present: <br />Richard Spencer, Margaret Stebbins <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> Laurel Carpenter, Bob Hausslein (FoLB Chair), Marita <br />Hartshorn, Mike Tabaczynski, Peter Kelley (Selectmen’s Liaison), Sandra Shaw <br />(Recreation Committee Liaison) <br /> <br />Minutes <br />: The May 2011 minutes were accepted. <br /> <br />Selectmen Annual Goal Setting: <br />The committee has been formally solicited for <br />its input for the Selectmen’s annual goal setting session. Members agreed to <br />recommend to the Selectmen that a) the Town should strive to become a more <br />bike-friendly town; 2) that doing so would advance bike-related tourism and <br />economic development; and 3) that the Town should invest more resources in <br />improving bicycle transportation facilities generally, both in terms of shared-used <br />paths and “complete streets.” A document outlining these recommendations will <br />be forwarded to the Selectmen in time for their June 28 meeting. <br /> <br />Plans for Bikeway Drainage and Root Control <br /> (Update) Peggy shared a memo <br />from John Livsey describing delays on the CPA Bikeway project associated with <br />the discussions at the Conservation Commission. Stew talked about some of the <br />issues associated with the delay. The committee directed Peggy to contact John <br />Livsey to express its hope that the work was completed by winter. <br /> <br />Bikeway Intersection Safety Upgrades <br /> (Update) The committee asked again <br />about the proposed new bollards and how the bollards will join at the ground level. <br />Peggy agreed to write the DPW again and ask about the bollards and whether <br />they can be removed during plowing and to send the committee pictures of the <br />same bollards on the Bruce Freeman Trail. There was no other information about <br />intersection upgrade plans. <br /> <br />Other business: <br /> <br /> <br />
