<br /> <br />Board of Registrar Meeting of <br />June 23, 2005 – 9:00 a.m. <br />Minutes <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Luanna Devenis. <br />Present: Luanna Devenis [R], Chairman; Gerald Abegg [D], Ann Miller [R]; Donna Hooper [U], Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />Members acknowledged the reappointment of Luanna Devenis and welcomed newly appointed Registrar Gerald <br />Abegg. <br /> <br /> Registrar Signatures: Members voted unanimously to authorize the staff in the Town Clerk’s <br /> <br />Office to use the signature stamp(s) of Registrars in the absence of the Registrars for document <br />certification. <br /> <br /> Election Officer Appointments: <br /> <br />Recommendations for 2004-2005 election officer appointment were discussed. The Board <br />reviewed the proposed list of election officers recommended for appointment. No names of <br />persons recommended to serve as Election Officers were received from either town committee. <br />Listing totals 164 persons, of which 23 are republicans, 75 democrats, and 66 unenrolled. Voted <br />recommendations will be forwarded to the Board of Selectmen for appointment at an upcoming <br />July meeting. <br /> <br /> Motion was made to approve the list of names to be submitted to the Board of <br />o <br />Selectmen recommended by the Board of Registrars for appointment as Election <br />Officers and adopted unanimously. <br /> <br /> Voter Registrations & Assistant Registrars: <br /> <br /> Registrars discussed voter registration at Lexington High School and reviewed <br />o <br />role of an Assistant Registrar. After a busy year, current Assistant Registrar <br />George McCormack [U]will be retiring this year. Discussion on need for <br />Assistant Registrar, and proportionate political party representation was <br />discussed. Members concluded no action for appointment would be taken at this <br />time and advised the Town Clerk to converse with Mr. McCormack on <br />recommendations for future years to promote registration with high school <br />students. <br /> <br /> Town Clerk Donna Hooper provided update on Inactive Voter update process <br />o <br />and printing of 2005 Annual Street Listing. <br /> <br /> New Business: Town Clerk Donna Hooper updated members on future election legislation, <br /> <br />handicapped voting, and upcoming election challenges.
