<br /> <br />Board of Registrar Meeting of <br />June 11, 2004 – 9:00 a.m. <br />Minutes <br /> <br />Chairman Mary Abegg called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. <br />Present: Mary Abegg, Chairman; Luanna Devenis; Ann Miller; Donna Hooper, Clerk <br /> <br /> Election Officer Appointments: <br /> <br />Election officer appointment process and recommendations for officer appointment were discussed. The <br />Board reviewed the current listing of election officers and discussed eligibilities. Recommendation <br />received from the Republican Town Committee was reviewed and names of ineligible and/or uninterested <br />persons were removed. No names of newly interested persons were received from either town committee. <br /> <br /> Motion to approve the list of names to be submitted to the Board of Selectmen recommended by <br />o <br />the Board of Registrars for appointment as Election Officers, as amended, was made. <br />Unanimous vote to approve as amended. <br /> <br /> Voter Registrations: <br /> <br /> Registrars discussed voter registration activities at Lexington High School political activity and <br />o <br />interest of the students. <br /> Donna Hooper provided update on Inactive Voter update process and printing of 2004 Annual <br />o <br />Street Listing. <br /> <br />th <br /> June 8 Proposition 2 ½ override election procedures: <br /> <br />th <br /> Procedures followed for the June 8 vote were briefly discussed and mention was made of interest <br />o <br />in returning to practice of posting election results in the Cary Memorial Building foyer beginning <br />with the September 2004 State Primary if possible. <br /> <br /> Board of Registrars: <br /> <br /> Election of Officers - <br />o <br /> Appreciation was extended to Mary Abegg [D] for her serving as Board of Registrar <br /> <br />Chairman over the past year. Mary expressed her willingness to continue serving over <br />the upcoming year and sought nominations. Luanna Devenis [R] accepted nomination by <br />Ann Miller. <br />After discussion, Luanna Devenis [R] was unanimously voted Chairman. <br /> <br /> Assistant Registrar - <br />o <br /> The appointment of an Assistant Registrar at Lexington High School was discussed. <br /> <br />Ann Miller explained she viewed the Board to be in violation of MGL c.51 §22 by not <br />having all political parties represented when appointing an Assistant Registrar. Donna <br />Hooper will check with MA Elections Office. Luanna Devenis will check with <br />representatives at Lexington High School for possible candidates from the Republican <br />party. <br />Donna Hooper moved to appoint George McCormack [U] as Assistant Registrar at <br />Lexington High School. Motion was seconded and adopted on a vote of 3-1. <br /> <br /> New Business: None <br /> <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned approximately 9:55 a.m. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />Donna M.
