<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Minutes of Board of Registrars <br />Meeting of February 11, 2003 - 6:00 p.m. <br />Town Clerk’s Office, Town Office Building <br /> <br /> <br />Present: Mary Abegg (D), Chairman; Luanna Devenis ( R ) ; Donna Hooper (D), Clerk <br /> <br />Chairman Mary Abegg called the meeting to order at 6:08 p.m. <br /> <br />The recent resignation of Connie Foster ( R ), and need for Registrar replacement , <br />was discussed. Mary Abegg complimented the interaction and cooperation of all <br />Registrars in fulfilling their role. After discussion of options, and MGL c. 51 §20 <br />which provides for the remaining members of the Board of Registrars to request the <br />Board of Selectmen to appoint a temporary Registrar, a motion was entertained and <br />seconded to: <br /> <br />MOTION: Request the Board of Selectmen appoint Stephen Cole (Sr.) of 857 <br />o <br />Emerson Gardens Road, as a Temporary Registrar to fill out the unexpired <br />term of Connie Foster (2004). Upon a vote of 3-0, the motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> <br />Town Clerk Donna Hooper provided an update on Census and Voter Registration <br />status. A draft insert (from the Board of Registrars) for the upcoming May Tax Bill <br />was reviewed and edits made. The Registrars voiced their support for the inclusion of <br />this reminder in the upcoming tax bill. <br /> <br /> <br />The 2003-2004 Election Schedule was reviewed and discussed – including <br />anticipated elections for March 2003, and a May/June 2003 Proposition 2 ½ Override. <br />Also discussed was effectiveness of Professional Development day (no students) <br />scheduled for the November 5, 2002 State Election date. This was found to be very <br />effective, has been discussed with Superintendent Joanne Benton, and is <br />recommended to be scheduled as standard practice for all November elections when <br />feasible. <br /> <br /> <br />Impact of school construction projects on poll locations was discussed. It is <br />anticipated precincts 1 (Harrington) and 5 (Fiske) will be the first precincts/polls <br />requiring relocation due to upcoming construction at these schools.
