LINCOLN PARK COMMITTEE
Minutes for meeting on August 25, 2010
A meeting of the Lincoln Park Committee was held on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at 7 p.m. at the
Town Office Building in room G -15. A quorum of 5 was present.
Members present: David Williams, Chairman, Lynne Wilson, Nell Walker, Parker Hirtle and Kris
Burton,
Also attending: Hank Manz from the Board of Selectmen, Wendy Rudner from Recreation, and Wes
Wirth from Thomas Wirth Associates, Inc.
Absent: Jon Eddy and Brian Kelley.
The minutes for the meeting of August 4, 2010, were read and corrected as follows: The last
sentence in the first paragraph should read: If the work were to be done, it would cost $100,000. The
first sentence of the third paragraph should read: There is a question about whether the trees on
Lincoln Street were killed by methane gas. David Pinsonneault will investigate and report. The
minutes were accepted as corrected.
1. Update of work at the Park. The drains at the start of the Lincoln Street entrance continue to clog
up, which is resulting in more erosion. Foti tree - and ground - crews did a beautiful job weeding and
mulching, and the entrance is looking good. They also cleared an area to the left of the old board-
walk to open up the view. The poison ivy man has been working, and he will also go after the
Japanese knotweed along the bike path. It is time to renew his contract. Because of the recent heat
wave, the tree replacement work was put off. The cardamine is a new invasive and no one is sure of
the best way to eradicate it.
2. Celebration on September 26. Wes has been working on the brochure to be handed out on
September 26. There was a discussion about the history of the Park, dates, names, etc. Wes will
email a revised version. After September 26, we will charge $1 for the brochure. Wes will get the
quotes for printing them out. David passed around a draft of the invitation he created. We discussed
who should be invited.
3. The next meeting is scheduled for September 15, right after we meet with the Recreation
Committee in Room G -15.
4. Meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kristine Burton, Scribe
