LEXINGTON DESIGN ADVISORY COMMITTEE
January 10, 2011
To: Board of Appeals
Re: 442 Marrett Road
Temporary sign application
The DAC reviewed the proposed temporary sign application at 442 Marrett Road and had the following
comments.
1. After reviewing the application the DAC found the application in compliance.
2. The DAC would like the sign to only be out during business hours and would prefer the sign not
be out on weekends.
3. The DAC does not want any additional lighting of any kind to be installed for night time
visibility.
4. The DAC would like the sign to not be located any closer to the street then the back of the
sidewalk.
The Design Advisory Committee recommends this project be approved pending compliance with
the recommendations noted above.
The DAC would like to stress to the Board that they prefer temporary signs such as these be kept to
a minimum as streets could quickly become cluttered with too many signs potentially becoming a
safety concern. All owners especially owners of multi tenant facilities should be encouraged to
improve existing signage for their tenants to improve visibility for visitors rather then add
temporary signage.
Respectfully submitted,
Timothy D. Lee. ASLA, Chairman
Lexington Design Advisory Committee
Cc: Board of Selectmen
