Lexington Human Rights Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />November 5, 2010 <br />Present: Albert Zabin, Bob Kent, Linda Vine, Deb Jackson, Melissa Buttaro, Jessie <br />Steigerwald, Leona Martin, Puran Dang, Emily Lavine, Richard Capron, Joe O'Leary, <br />Michael McLean, and guest Art Katz. <br />Meeting was called to order at 8:05 am. <br />Minutes were approved as mailed <br />Deb Jackson provided an update on planning for the November 21 program and how the <br />practice run went with the presenters. She is complying notes to assist her as facilitator <br />and also to help Hank in his opening remarks. It was decided to hold a second practice <br />on 11/16 from 3 — 5 pm at the H.S. Library Media Room. Please refer to the attached <br />work plan for the components of the program and items to be completed. <br />Al discussed his meeting with Mr. Cataldo and their sharing of reflections about the event <br />with some reluctance on Mr. Cataldo's part to revisit this painful time. <br />Other Business: <br />Al raised his concerns with lack of response from the Board of Selectmen on the Anti - <br />Muslim Statement. He wanted to ask that it be placed on an upcoming agenda for <br />discussion. <br />Leona, and others raised their concern around the draft statement and that a final <br />statement was not approved by the group. A motion was made by Richard to bring back <br />drafts for review by the full committee at the upcoming meeting, (12/3). <br />Melissa reported the success of the Boston Gay Men's Concert. She shared a story <br />regarding the Halloween Dance at the HS. She also discussed her new initiative "Make It <br />Better Now Campaign" designed to support kids who are gay. <br />Next meeting is scheduled on Friday, December 3 at 8:00 a.m. in Room 207. <br />The meeting adjourned at 9:15 am. <br />
