<br />Tree Committee (TC) Minutes-November 4, 2010 <br /> <br /> <br />Members Present: John Frey(chair), Jewel Kuljian, Karen Longeteig, Gerry Paul, Anne <br />Senning, Nell Walker, Jim Wood, Jane Beswick(Friends of Trees), Deborah <br />Mauger(Selectmen Liaison) <br /> <br />Jim Wood was appointed as scribe. Minutes of Oct 14, 2010 were approved as corrected. <br /> <br />Tree Planting Protocol (See Attachment 1) <br />Tree removal applications and activity-Not covered <br />th <br />DCR grant-Hourly rate $12.00. Grant proposal submitted on October 29 2010 for two <br />interns, at a dollar value of $7680.00. Preparation included many Town Employees, <br />Volunteers and other Tree Committee (TC) members <br />Gerry Paul and John Frey to meet with the Zoning Board of Appeals and explain the Tree <br />Bylaw expansion. <br />Tree City USA Webinar on the online application portal is primarily for Dave <br />Pinsonneault’s use. <br />John Frey needs Dave Pinnsoneault and TC members input on trees planted and removed <br />for the 2010 annual report. <br /> <br />Commemorative tree labels-The committee moved and passed that Commemorative <br />Trees will be offered with aluminum tags. Feedback from donors will be requested and <br />recorded. Plaques cost $150.00 each. Jane Beswick will write Robert Esselen for info re <br />Marjorie. <br />The question was raised if Cynthia Johnson received her unused funds ($3000). <br />This was an issue prior to Battle Green Plan. John Frey suggests a meeting with <br />Norm Cohen to attempt to resolve. <br />Battle Green Planning Meeting-General consensus that Tree planting should be <br />around perimeter and that control of Battle Green should remain with Selectmen. <br /> <br />Busa land - Reply to David Horton’s email: TC response is that we have no current needs <br />for tree nursery expansion, but if someone wants to consider land for a Community based <br />nursery then the TC would provide advice and counsel. John Frey to respond for the TC. <br /> <br />Jewel Kuljian /Jane Beswick to attend Tree Steward training Nov. 5&6 at Harvard Forest. <br /> <br />Adjourn. <br /> Submitted-James C.
