1 <br />.9 <br />60--57 <br />Selectmen's Meeting <br />May 2, 1994 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Monday, May 2, 1994, in the <br />Selectmen`s Meeting Room, Town office Building, at 7:30 p.m. Chairman Bailey, Mr. <br />McSweeney, Mr. Busa, Mr. Fenn, Mrs. Bddison; Mr. Cohen, Town Counsel; Mr. white, <br />Town Manager; Mrs. Novak, Assistant Town Manager; and Ms. Smith, Acting Executive <br />Clerk, were present. <br />Traffic Safety Advisory Committee <br />Peter Chalpi.n, Chairman of the Traffic Safety Committee, made the following <br />recommendations of the Committee: <br />Percy Road - Caution Children. Sip. <br />- -- .. <br />At its meeting of March 23, the Traffic Safety Advisory committee met with Mrs. Mary -Lou <br />McDonough, #31 Percy Road to discuss a neighborhood request to have Caution Children <br />signs installed on both ends of Percy Road. This street continues to be used as an alternate <br />route to the Waltham Street area and the volume and speed of traffic is of concern to the <br />neighbors. The committee unanimously reconunends approval of the request, and the Police <br />Department has indicated that it will increase enforcement as manpower permits to re-- educate <br />drivers that Percy road is a , residential street. <br />Mr. Chalpin said that over the long term signs such as these are effective. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to install Caution Children signs at both <br />ends of Percy Road. <br />No Parkin Sin-- 1505 Massachusetts Avenue <br />At its meeting of March 23, the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee met with Mrs. Ruth <br />McIntosh, President of the Russell Square Condominium Trust, to discuss improving sight <br />distance at the existing condominium driveway on Massachusetts Avenue. vehicles parked <br />up to, and in some cases encroaching on the driveway apron have been observed in the past <br />and significantly reduce sight distance to the left when one is leaving the driveway. He <br />indicated this has been examined over a number of years. The committee uninirnously <br />recommends that an area on Massachusetts Avenue, from the driveway to a point 25' easterly, <br />be . posted "No Parking Here to Driveway ". The Committee feels that adequate sight distance <br />is particularly important at this location because of the volume of traffic on Massachusetts <br />Avenue, and posting this sign will i mprove safety for both the eondonw* nium residents and <br />those people traveling on Massachusetts Avenue. <br />
