MINUTES OF A JOINT MEETING OF THE PLANNING BOARD AND BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br />MAY 21, 2001 <br />The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board held in the Selectmen's Room Town Office Building, was <br />called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman Galaitsis with members Chase, Davies, Harden, Planning <br />Director Garber, and Assistant Planner McCall- Taylor present. The Board of Selectmen called their <br />meeting to order at the same time. <br />* * * * * * * * * * * * * ** COORDINATION WITH OTHER BOARDS, COMMITTEES * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** <br />Buildout Project John Zupkus who is an environmental analyst for the Northeast Regional Office of the <br />Department of Environmental Protection and Laurie Condors who is a regional planner with the <br />Metropolitan Area Planning Council presented the buildout project. This buildout was done by the <br />Metropolitan Planning Council under a grant from the Department of Environmental Protection. Similar <br />studies are being done across the Commonwealth so that there will be consistent documentation from one <br />community to another to aid in local planning efforts. The following maps, large scale versions of which <br />were given to the Planning Board, were shown and explained by Ms. Connors: <br />• Zoning and Absolute Development Constraints <br />• Developable Lands and Partial Constraints <br />• Composite Development <br />• Orthophotograph <br />• Zoning <br />• <br />Mr. Zupkus gave a PowerPoint presentation that included a community data profile. The information is <br />also contained in the Community Development Plan guidebook, `Building Vibrant Communities" that <br />will be filed with the Planning staff Mr. Zupkus explained that now that Lexington has received the <br />community buildout, the town is eligible for up to $30,000 in technical assistance and planning services <br />to be used in producing a Community Development Plan. These plans are intended to focus on <br />developing housing for families and individuals across a broad range of income, while balancing the need <br />for economic development, transportation and infrastructure improvements and open space preservation. <br />The board members thanked Mr. Zupkus and Ms. Connors for their presentation. <br />The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m. <br />Sara B.
