�r <br />7 <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING r` <br />August 8 1988 A <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Monday, <br />August 8, 1988, in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, Town Office Building, <br />at 7 :30 p.m.. Chairman Smith, Mr. Eddison, Mr. Dailey, Mr. McSweeney; <br />Mr. White, Town Manager; Mr. Cohen, Town Counsel; Mrs. Snow, Executive <br />Clerk, were present. <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />ONE DAY LIQUOR LICENSES. W. R. GRACE <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to ratify the poll <br />vote on July 28, 1988, to approve the application of W.R. Grace Company <br />(RAEDACC) for One Day Liquor License on August 4, 1988, for a farewell <br />party at 55 Hayden Avenue for an employee. <br />COMMITMENTS, WATER & SEWER CHARGES <br />U P on motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve the <br />commitment of the following charges: <br />Cycle 9 Water Charges, August, 1988 $55,913.30 <br />Sewer Charges, July, 1988 Final Bills $ 1.520.20 <br />Water Charges, July, 1988 Final Bills $ 1 <br />TRAFFIC ITEM, BRIDGE STREET <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to refer to the <br />Traffic Safety Advisory Committee the request of Erna Greene, 25 Bridge <br />Street, for continuance of one way traffic regulation on Bridge Street <br />and to request the Committee to give its recommendations on the <br />effectiveness of the 6- -month trial of the regulation. <br />SEWER SYSTEM REHAB CONTRACT <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to execute <br />Contract #87 --1, Sewer System Rehabilitation, as approved by the Board of <br />Selectmen on May 9, 1988, Endorsement of the contract was voted subject <br />to approval of Town Counsel as to form. <br />STREET LIGHTING <br />Peter Kovner, Myla Kabat- -Zinn, and John Frey, Chairman, D.A.C. , <br />were present for discussion of street lighting and the potential <br />changeover to sodium vapor fixtures as proposed by the Boston Edison <br />Company, as each incandescent or mercury vapor lamp becomes faulty. <br />Mr Eddison noted that the issue had been brought to his attention <br />by Mrs. Kabat -Zinn at a meeting of the East Lexington Association last <br />spring and had been referred to the Design Advisory Committee, which <br />felt that street lighting merits attention in terms of design. This <br />subject will be covered in the Design Guidelines to be developed in the <br />near future. <br />He saw the need to address economic and conservation aspects of <br />Edison's ongoing replacement plan. <br />Mr. White was asked to explore these factors and to report on <br />alternative lighting which could be considered. Mr. Eddison suggested <br />that the Board would benefit from a night -time tour to observe the <br />existing varied types of lighting for a comparison of the visual impact <br />of each type. <br />
