March 3, 1387 <br />y � <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Tuesday, <br />March 3, 1387, in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, Town office Building, <br />at 7:30 p.m. Chairman Eddison,.Mr. Marshall, Mr. Dailey, Mrs. Smith, <br />Mr. McSweeney; Mr. Hutchinson, Town Manager; Mr. Cohen, Town Counsel; <br />Ms. Adler, Asst. to the Town Manager; Mrs. Snow, Executive Clerk, were <br />present. <br />PUBLIC HEARING BOSTON EDI SON , MASS,.e AVENUE <br />The Chairman opened a public hearing on the petition of the Boston <br />Edison Company for permission to install conduit on Massachusetts <br />Avenue, Edward Chisholm, representing the Edison - Company, explained <br />that the work is necessary for provision of electrical service to the <br />United Methodist Church, 2600 bass. Avenue. Mr. Fields, Acting <br />Director of Public Works, had recommended that the petit be <br />approved, <br />There being no further comments in favor or in opposition, Mr. <br />Edd declared the hearing closed* <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve the <br />petition, plans and orders of Boston Edison Company to gain a grant of <br />_location proposed conduit in Massachusetts Avenue, southerly <br />approximately 183 feet east of Crosby Road, - a distance- of about 5 <br />feet. - <br />PROCLAMATION CROSS MONTH <br />Mr. Eddison read a Proclamation of the month of March as "Red <br />Cross Month ", submitted by Dr. Yuill for the Minute Man Chapter of Red <br />Cross. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve the <br />document proclaiming March, 1387, as Red Cross Month in Lexington. <br />DRIVEWAY PROPOSAL BAYBANK 1775 WINE do SPIRIT SHOP <br />The proposal to closing off to traffic a driveway leading to the <br />municipal parking lot behind CVS, located between Baybank /Harvard Trust <br />and the 1775 Wine and Spirit Shop was referenced. <br />Mr. Marshall, an owner of abutting property said that he would <br />abstain from discussion and vote on the matter and left the meeting. <br />Mr. Hutchinson nave his recommendation to block the driveway to <br />traffic both ways, for safety to pedestrians and visual enhancement of <br />the Center by installation of a new brickway sidewalk and appropriate <br />plantings. He noted the alternate responses of the Lexington Center <br />Committee which recommends allowing one way traffic in from Mass, <br />Avenue and both right and loft turns in from the avenue. Mr. <br />Hutchinson said he considered this option as a half way solution to the <br />safety problem. He indicated on a tan displayed, the ro ert tin <br />� 7 p , p property Y s e <br />' and area proposed to be bricked, noting that funds are available for <br />the project. <br />
