1 <br />t, SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />u <br />September 10, 1984 <br />R <br />ee V <br />1 f• <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in the Selectmen's <br />Meeting Room, Town off ice - Building, on Monday, September 10, 1984, at 7:30 p.m. <br />Chairman Battin, Mr. Sacco, Mr. McLaughlin, Mr . Marshall, Mr. Eddison; Mr. <br />Hutchinson, Town Manager; Mr. Cohen, Town. Counsel and Mrs. Snow, Executive <br />Clerk, -were present. <br />The Chairman opened a public hearing on the petition . of Boston Edison <br />Company for permission to install conduit in Concord Avenue at the Metro- <br />politan State Hospital. Mr. Kelley, representing Boston Edison Company <br />explained that this work is necessary in order to provide electrical service <br />to the Hospital. <br />Mrs. Battin read the memorandum from Walter J. Tonaszuck, Director of <br />Public Works /Engineering, in which he recommended approval of the petition. <br />Mr. McLaughlin noted that he 'had observed a 'number of street openings, <br />approved by the Board throughout r-he Town, which have not been properly re- <br />stored after completion of work, and asked Mr . Kelley to ensure that the <br />closings are done with special care. Mr. Hutchinson will investigate the <br />matter and will report to the Board on his findings. <br />No one speaking in favor or in opposition, Mrs Battin declared the <br />hearing closed. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to grant permission to <br />the Boston Edison Company to install approximately f if ty f ive f eet of conduit <br />off pole 21/51 in Concord Avenue, southerly approximately 1,835 feet southeast <br />of Chadbourne Road . <br />Boston Edison <br />Conduit <br />Concord Ave. <br />Minutes of the Selectmen's Goal Setting meeting on June 28, submitted Minutes Goal <br />by the Town Manager were reviewed and amendments suggested. Upon motion duly Setting Mtg. <br />made- and seconded, it was voted to table action on the minutes of the June 28th <br />meeting, pending revision to - reflect the suggested changes. <br />Minutes of the Selectmen's meeting on August .6 , 1984, were approved as Minutes 8/6 <br />amended. 8/20/84 <br />Minutes of the Selectmen's meeting on August 20, 1984, were approved as <br />presented. <br />Fire Chief John Bergeron, and members of his department, were present in "EMS Week" <br />recognition of Emergency Medical Services week. Chief Bergeron introduced. Proclamation <br />Deputy Chief John T. McDonough, Jr. and Fire Fighters Kenneth Kelly, Stephen <br />O'Laughlin, Robert Kroke and Kenneth Tremblay, members of the Emergency Medical <br />Services Team. Mr. Sacco participated with Fire Fighter Tremblay in a demon- <br />stration of the Heimlich maneuver, who explained to the audience circumstances <br />in which the maneuver can be a lifesaving measure. The Chief invited all to <br />attend an open House to be held at the Central Fire Station on October 13, in <br />conjunction with Fire Prevention Week. <br />Mrs. Battin noted that Governor Dukakis had proclaimed September 16 through <br />22 as "Massachusetts Emergency Medical Services Week," and that the Board had <br />been requested to act similarly by the issuance of a proclamation in honor of <br />the observance in Lexington. <br />
