SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />i � <br />4 January 9, 1984 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in the Select- <br />men I s Meeting. Room, . Town Of f ice Building, on Monday, January. 9, 1984 at <br />7:30 p.m. Chairman Politi, Mrs. Battin, Mr. Sacco, Mr. McLaughlin; <br />Mr. Hutchinson, Town Manager; Mr. Cohen, Town Counsel; Miss Adler, Assis- <br />tant to the Town Manager and Mrs. Snow, Acting Executive Clerk, were <br />present-, <br />The Chairman called the meeting to order and opened, : the .hearings . Street <br />subd ivis ion and construction streets for presentation to Town Meeting . hearings <br />He read the list of streets to be considered as follows: <br />Construction Streets <br />Ellis Street <br />Emerald Street <br />Norton Road <br />Sunny Knoll Avenue <br />Tower Road (Locust Street to Independence Avenue) <br />Subdivision Streets <br />Battleview Circle <br />Crest Circle <br />Ingleside Road (Clyde Place to end) <br />Kitson Park Drive <br />-- <br />Mr. Politi opened the hearing on Ellis Street and read the Planning Ellis <br />Board report, in favor of the project. Mr. Fields, Town Engineer, outlined <br />the improvements proposed for a distance of 210' at a cost of $65,000, with <br />a betterment return of $5,086.33. Sidewalk would be installed on the south- <br />erly side, with removal of some trees. Land takings would be necessary only <br />for roundings at Oak Street. All abuttors had signed the petition, previous <br />petition having been s- ubtait! ed - - if..:19 8 0 . <br />*Richard Enright, 7 Ellis Street, ques tionne d procedures for dealing <br />with the grade of his driveway which would be at variance with the street <br />grade, Mr. Fields responded that the grade of the road would be modified <br />to accommodate his driveway. <br />Mr. Enright said he had initially been in favor, but is now opposed to <br />the project. <br />Mary Enright noted change in the character of the street if the trees <br />are removed and stated her opposition. <br />Edward . Lollis , 54 oak Street, favors the street improvement but could <br />see no advantage to a sidewalk, since school children in the area are bussed. <br />Jane Rabe, 68 oak. Street, agreed with Lollis' view and requested modi- <br />f ication to waive the need for sidewalks, <br />Edward Rabe suggested a narrower, one-way street to preserve the charac- <br />ter of the street. <br />Linda Cormier, 6 Elli Street, asked if the improvement plan would <br />impact her front stairs which are near the road edge now. Mr. Field responded <br />that the stairs would have to be temporarily removed, and replaced at Town <br />expense if the plan is approved, <br />Street <br />
