Minutes of the Lexington Zoning Board of Appeals <br /> Selectmen's Meeting Room, Lexington Town Hall <br /> November 12, 2009 <br /> Board Members Present: Chairman Nyles N. Barnert, John J. McWeeney, Arthur C. <br /> Smith, Martha C. Wood and Associate Member Leo P. McSweeney <br /> Staff Present: Dianne L. Cornaro, Administrative Clerk and David L. George, Zoning <br /> Administrator <br /> Petition Address: 1987 Massachusetts Avenue, Map 57, Lot 9B <br /> Prior to the hearing, the petition and supporting data were reviewed by the Building <br /> Commissioner, Conservation Administrator, Town Engineer, Health Director, Board of <br /> Selectmen, the Zoning Administrator, the Planning Administrator and Historic Districts <br /> Commission Clerk. Comments were received from the Planning Department, The <br /> Historic District Commission Clerk and the Zoning Administrator. <br /> The Chairman opened the hearing at 7:30 pm by reading the legal notice and described <br /> information received from the petitioner relative to the petition. <br /> A letter of support was received from 1998 Massachusetts Avenue. <br /> Bernie Lanquist, representing St. Bridget's Church, presented the petition. <br /> The applicant is requesting a special permit in accordance with section 135 -78 to replace <br /> the existing sign, add a second sign (new), and install a temporary sign as shown on plans <br /> submitted with the application. <br /> The applicant indicated the two permanent signs would mark the location of the two <br /> primary buildings. The temporary sign would alert the community to events that occur <br /> approximately 9 times a year. <br /> There were no questions from the Board. <br /> There were no questions from the audience. <br /> No one spoke in favor or in opposition to the petition. <br /> The hearing closed at 7:34 pm. <br /> Decision <br /> On a motion by Martha C. Wood and seconded by Leo P. McSweeney, the Board voted <br /> 5 -0, to grant a special permit under section 135 -78D in accordance with section 135 -11B <br /> to allow three signs: a new standing sign to replace the existing sign, a new standing sign, <br /> and a temporary sign, per the plans submitted, at 1977 -1987 Massachusetts Avenue. <br /> Submitted by: Dianne L.
