<br />Minutes <br />Town Celebrations Committee <br />October 28, 2009 <br />Room 111, Town Hall @ 7:15 pm <br /> <br />Members present <br />Suzie Barry, Mary Gillespie, Jo-Anne Granger, Paul Jenkins, Julie Miller, Bill Mix, Henry Murphy, <br />Sandy Podgorski, Jim Shaw and Bob Tracey <br />Not present <br />Sally Fisher, Sondra Lucente, Jerry Michelson, Charlie Price, John Rossi <br /> Business <br />? <br />Suzie Barry called the meeting to order at 7:20 pm. <br /> <br />? <br />Minutes of the October 21, 2009 meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />? <br />Suzie met with Chamber of Commerce members, Larry Smith and Mary Jo Bohart. <br /> <br />th <br />1.Regarding Lexington’s 300 Anniversary celebration -- It was decided that better <br /> <br />communication is needed between the Town Celebrations Committee and Chamber <br />of Commerce. <br />2.Patriots’ Day parade. Float judging – the Chamber of Commerce will provide the <br /> <br />judges and cash prizes. Banner sponsorship – (1) the plan is to have the solicitation <br />letter ready for mailing by the first full week in January 2010, (2) the Chamber of <br />Commerce would like to be publicly acknowledged for their sponsorship of the float <br />prizes (there are three categories: youth, civic and commercial), and (3) the <br />Chamber of Commerce asked if they could have a banner in the parade mentioning <br />their sponsorship. <br /> <br />Veterans’ Day 2009 <br />? <br />Committee members read the essay submissions and the following essays were chosen <br /> <br />as winners: <br />1.Carter William Yee, elementary school entry <br /> <br />2.John Caples, middle school entry <br /> <br />3.Jessica Hylek and Olivia Burger, high school entries <br /> <br /> <br />
