1 <br />C7_• N: <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING; <br />January S 1990 ...- <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Monday, January <br />8, 1990, in the Selectmeni's Meeting Room, Town office Building, at 7:30 p.m. <br />Acting Chairman Eddison, fir. Marshall, Mr. Dailey, Mr. McSweeney; Mr. white, <br />Town Manager; Mr. Cohen, Town Counsel; Ms. Radway, Asst. to the Town Manager; <br />Mrs. Snow, Executive Clerk, were present. <br />REORGANIZATION OF THE BOARD <br />Mr. Eddison read a letter to the Board from Selectman Jacquelyn R. <br />Smith, in which she submitted her resignation as Chairman of the Board due to <br />t:he need for a less demanding schedule during her recuperation from a recent <br />illness. <br />Mrs. Smith will continue to actively participate as a Board member. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted with regret to accept <br />the resignation of Jacquelyn R. Smith as Chairman of the Board of Selectmen. <br />on% ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN <br />The Executive Clerk asked for nominations for Chairman of the Board and <br />Mr. Eddison was nominated. There being no further nominations, the Executive <br />Clerk declared nominations closed. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to elect John C. <br />Eddison as Chairman of the Board of Selectmen. <br />Mr. Eddison thanked his fellow Board members for their expression of <br />confidence in him, but added his regret at the circumstances which had made <br />this action necessary. He complimented Mrs. Smith on her excellent <br />performance as Chairman and looked forward to her return in the near future. <br />GASOLINE STORAGE1 LEDGEMONT RESEARCH PARK <br />Mr. Eddison reopened the Public Hearing on the application of Beal & <br />Company on behalf of Ledgemont Research Park for storage of gasoline in <br />automobile tanks in a parking garage at 128 Spring Street. The hearing had <br />been opened and immediately adjourned on November 27, 1983, due to the absence <br />of the applicant. <br />Peter Nichols, who represented Beal & Company explained that the permit <br />would cover an existing, free- standing garage, and is necessary to comply with <br />State law. <br />Mr. Eddison read the Legal Notice of the Hearing which had appeared in <br />the Lexington Minute -Man on November 9, 1989, and referred to the <br />recommendation of the Health Director, George Smith, that a contingency plan <br />relative to accidental spills be developed, if the license is approved. <br />00ft Mr. Eddison declared the hearing closed. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve the <br />application of John T. Gregg, Beal & Company, on behalf of Ledgemont Research <br />Park Associates, for permission and license for storage of automobile gasoline <br />in 306 automobiles, with a maximum capacity of 6, 120 gallons, in a free- <br />standing parking garage at the premises of Ledgemont Research Park, 128 Spring <br />Street. <br />Permission was granted subject to a condition that a contingency plan <br />must be developed that will provide for accident and spill response should <br />gasoline spillage occur. Copies of the plan must be filed with the Fire and <br />Health Departments and the Conservation commission. <br />
