(Annual Town Meeting - March 17, 1980.) <br /> Article 4. Public Schools <br /> (Cont.) <br /> #7920 Public School- Education 16,989,262 <br /> *Of which $12,100 is for out of state travel. To <br /> which the sum of $328,648 in available and antici- <br /> pated P.L. 874 and other Federal and State Funds, and <br /> $20,000 in available and anticipated athletic receipts <br /> is to be applied and the balance of $16,640,614 is to <br /> be raised in the tax levy. <br /> 9:39 P.M. <br /> Otis S. Brown, Jr., Chairman of the School Committee, moved that <br /> line item 7920 be divided from Article 4 and the Moderator declared <br /> that line item 7920 was now divided from Article 4. <br /> 9:43 P.M. <br /> Mr. Brown and Supt, of Schools, Dr. John Lawson, both gave an <br /> explanation of the school budget. 9:47 P.M. <br /> Appropriation Committee Member, George S. Silverman, stated that <br /> it was the unanimous opinion of his committee that the School <br /> Committee had done a fine job on the budgets over which they had any <br /> control. 9:55 P.M. <br /> The Moderator stated that, as line item 7920 had been divided from <br /> Article 4, a vote would now be taken on the motion offered under <br /> 7920 and, due to the tax cap by the state, if the vote was not <br /> unanimous, a standing vote would be taken. <br /> Motion under line item 7920 was declared carried unanimously. <br /> 10:04 P.M. <br /> Otis S. Brown, Jr. served notice of reconsideration of line item 7920 <br /> under Article 4. 10:04 P.M. <br /> Article 4. <br /> (Cont.) <br /> #8100 Regional Voc. Tech. High School Assessment 396,265 <br /> 10:05 P.M. <br /> 8500 Interest on Debt 151,103 <br /> 10 :05 P.M. <br /> 8525 Tax and Bond Anticipation Loans 340,000 <br /> 10:05 P.M. <br /> 8550 Maturing Debt 1,605,000* <br /> *of which $575,942.20 is to be transferred from <br /> the Receipts Reserved for Appropriation Account - <br /> Conservation Land Reimbursement. <br /> 10:05 P.M. <br /> David G. Williams asked to have line item 7810 divided from <br /> Article 4 and the Moderator stated that line item 7810 was now <br /> divided from Article 4. 10 :06 P.M. <br /> David G. Williams moved that line item 7810 be postponed until <br /> after consideration of Article 51. This motion was carried by <br /> voice vote. 10 :07 P.M. <br /> (See Pages 528 and 560) <br /> The Moderator stated that if the vote on Article 4 was not unani- <br /> mous, then a standing vote would be taken. Voice vote on Article 4 <br /> (with the exception of line items 1090, 3770, 3800, 4900, 5800, 5850, <br /> 6050, 7810 and 7920) was declared carried unanimously. <br /> 10:11 P.M. <br />
