(Annual Town Meeting - March 17, 1980.) <br /> Article 13. Presented by Robert B. Kent. <br /> MOTION: That the sum of $90,000.00 be appropriated for refurbishing <br /> the water towers located off Jean Road, and that such amount be <br /> raised in the tax levy. <br /> Carried Unanimously. 10:22 P.M. <br /> Article 14. Presented by Robert B. Kent. <br /> MOTION: That this article be indefinitely postponed. <br /> Carried Unanimously. 10:22 P.M. <br /> Article 15. Presented by Mary W. Miley. <br /> MO'T'ION: That the sum of $40,000.00 be appropriated for engineering <br /> services for a comprehensive study of the Town's drainage system, <br /> and that such amount be raised in the tax levy, and, in addition, <br /> that the Selectmen be authorized to apply for, accept, expend and <br /> borrow in anticipation of federal and state aid for the project. <br /> Carried Unanimously. 10:23 P.M. <br /> Article 16. Presented by Mary W. Miley. <br /> MOTION: That this article be indefinitely postponed. <br /> Carried Unanimously. 10:24 P.M. <br /> Article 17. Presented by Mary W. Miley. <br /> MOTION: To establish as a town way and accept the layout of as a <br /> (As town way Kendall Road from Apollo Circle a distance of 415 feet, <br /> adopted - more or less, to Vine Brook, as laid out by the Selectmen and shown <br /> See upon a plan on file in the office of the Town Clerk, dated January <br /> Pages 2, 1980, and to authorize the Selectmen to take by eminent domain, <br /> 533 & purchase or otherwise acquire any fee, easement or other interest in <br /> 534) land necessary therefor, that the sum of $37,350.00 be appropriated <br /> for such land acquisition, construction, alteration and reconstruction <br /> of Kendall Road as is necessary, and that to raise such amount <br /> $31,756.52 be transferred from the Sale of Real Estate Fund and <br /> $5,593.48 be raised in the tax levy. <br /> 10:25 P.M. <br /> Erna S. Greene questioned the need of the sidewalk and wished to <br /> know the cost. The Town Manager stated that his best estimate would <br /> be in the vicinity of $6,000. 10:30 P.M. <br /> Erna S. Greene moved that the motion under Article 17 be amended by <br /> striking the figure $37,350.00 and substituting therefor the figure <br /> $31,350.00, by striking the figure $31,756.52 and substituting there- <br /> for the figure $31,350.00 and by striking the words "and $5,593.48 <br /> be raised in the tax levy ". 10:37 P.M. <br /> Mrs. Camac of 96 Kendall Road spoke from the balcony and questions <br /> were raised by many of the members in regard to the sidewalk being <br /> constructed on the wrong side of Kendall Road. It was felt by them <br /> that the sidewalk should be on the side where the houses were as <br /> children would have to cross the street in order to use the new <br /> sidewalk. 10:50 P.M. <br /> After much discussion, Mary W. Miley moved that this article <br /> (Article 17) be tabled and this motion was declared carried by <br /> voice vote. 10:50 P.M. <br />
