<br />Lexington Tree Committee Minutes for May 14, 2009 <br /> <br />Attending: Jewel Kuljian John Frey, Jeanne Krieger, Dave Pinsonneault, Karen <br />Longetieg, Gerry Paul, Jim Wood <br /> <br />1. Jim Wood was appointed as scribe. <br />2. The minutes of April 16, 2009 were approved. <br />3. Tree Wardens Agenda items-Dave Pinsonneault <br />3.1 By-Law Report-639 sites visited, 506 sites closed, 794 trees to be removed, <br />587 trees have been removed, 1927 trees to be planted, 1201 trees have been <br />planted, total diameter-inches removed 1104, resulting in $ 11,040 in fees <br />collected since 8/04/08 Tree Nursery-Town water is on, all trees have <br />irrigation drip line installed. A listing of what trees were planted and in which <br />row/hole was handed out. <br />3.2 John Livsey reported on the following planned action for the Butterfield and <br />Old Reservoir Dams. Dam stabilization will be accomplished by driving steel <br />sheet piling into the dam and then capping with concrete. This method will <br />result in the maximum number of trees to be preserved on the dam. This <br />summer all of the scrub trees will be removed. Next 1-2 years all required <br />trees and stumps will be removed to allow equipment to operate on the dam <br />tops. <br />3.3 Tree Inventory Update-Interns Fred MacDonald (a Clark senior) and Yianni <br />Laskaris (a Northeastern junior) will be working through June 30, 2009. More <br />volunteers would be helpful for tree inventory and for locating future planting <br />areas for maturing trees in the Nursery. <br />3.4 Belfry Hill-All trees and shrubs scheduled to be planted have been planted. <br />Belfry Hill workday is Saturday May 16, 2009 and volunteers are needed. <br />Tasks are the pulling of Garlic Mustard, cleaning up trash, and removing as <br />many invasive species as time allows. <br />3.5 Planting locations for Matt Foti donated trees. Anne Senning developed a <br />planting location plan, which will be sent to Matt. <br />3.6 Recommended tree list for the Tree Manual-No action has been taken on <br />revising the existing tree list. When it is completed we will print the number <br />of Tree Manuals that the available $1200.00 will allow. <br />3.7 Battle Green Master Plan Meeting-John Frey and as many other Tree <br />Committee members that can make it will attend the meeting. <br />th <br />3.8 Lexington received the Tree City USA for the 20 year at the ceremony in <br />Sturbridge MA on 5/08/09. <br />4. Friends of Trees-Gerry, Jewel, John will work on obtaining volunteers for the <br />Belfry Hill workday. <br />5.
