Minutes <br />Town of Lexington Appropriation Committee <br />March 25, 2009 <br />Place and time: Ellen Stone Room, Cary Memorial Building, 6:30 PM <br />Members present: Alan Levine (Chair), John Bartenstein (Vice Chair), Richard Eurich, <br />Pam Hoffman, Susan McLeish (Secretary), Eric Michelson, Glenn Parker, Mike <br />Kennealy, Rob Addelson (ex officio, non - voting) <br />Also present: Deborah Brown (Town Moderator) <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:40 PM. <br />1. Appropriation Committee Report. A short discussion regarding the timing <br />of the presentation of the Appropriation Committee report on the budget transpired and it <br />was concluded that the report would be given to the Moderator to file when the oral <br />report is made on March 30. The report has been placed on the table and will be made <br />available electronically tomorrow, Thursday, March 26, 2009. <br />2. Articles. A short discussion was regarding upcoming Town meeting dates and <br />Articles to be addressed was held. Deborah Brown mentioned that the Moderator will <br />propose a split for consideration of Article 4 with respect to the line item for health <br />insurance and that it is likely that a date certain for that discussion will be set (Article 43 <br />will be addressed at that same time). Discussion of Article 4 will commence on Monday, <br />March 30 and the plan is to split the article for items requiring a 2/3 vote — line 1100 and <br />the transportation stabilization fund. <br />3. Appropriation Committee Report - School Department Budget. A brief <br />discussion regarding the number of students living at Avalon Bay attending Lexington <br />Public Schools versus the estimated number was held. The just published Appropriation <br />Committee report suggests that the number of actual students is much greater than <br />originally estimated. It was concluded that we should review prior reports /obtain more <br />information to better understand the situation. <br />4. Article 7.
