oar o?aNiiyc i 1 <br /> 3 i bn <br /> ptaa9" 7 SELECT BOARD OFFICE <br /> i <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> Whereas: libraries create potential and possibilities within their communities,campuses and schools;and <br /> Whereas: libraries level the playing field for all who seek information and access to technologies;and <br /> Whereas: libraries continuously grow and evolve in how they provide for the needs of every member of their <br /> communities;and <br /> Whereas: libraries and librarians open up a world of possibilities through innovative programing, access to <br /> technology and the power of reading;and <br /> Whereas: librarians are trained,tech-savvy professionals,providing technology training and access to <br /> downloadable content like e-books; and <br /> Whereas: libraries support democracy and effect social change through their commitment to provide equitable <br /> access to information for all library users regardless of race,ethnicity,creed,ability, sexual <br /> orientation,gender identity or socio-economic status;and <br /> Whereas: libraries, librarians, library workers and supporters across America are celebrating National Library <br /> Week;and <br /> Whereas: Tuesday,April 6,2021 has been designated as National Library Workers Day in appreciation of their <br /> work; and <br /> Whereas: Cary Memorial Library in Lexington,Massachusetts is located in the heart of the Town center and the <br /> library and library workers provide an invaluable service to the citizens of Lexington with <br /> compassion,understanding and professionalism. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, WE, THE SELECT BOARD of the Town of Lexington, Massachusetts do hereby proclaim the <br /> week of April 4 to 10,2021 as <br /> National Library Wee <br /> in the Town of Lexington and encourage all citizens to join us in recognizing the staff of the Cary Memorial Library <br /> and further encourage all citizens to take advantage of the wonderful library resources available. <br /> IN WITNESS WHEREOF,we have set our hands and caused the seal of Lexington to be affixed herewith on the 31 st <br /> of Ma 021. <br /> DOUGLAS jCENTE,CHV 4 JOS PH N.PATO <br /> ITANNE E.BORRY '✓ JILT_I.
