August 26, 2020 Minutes <br />Lisah Rhodes moved and Lisa O'Brien seconded the approval of the minutes from the August <br />26th meeting, with edits. The Recreation Committee voted 4-0-1 to approve the August 26 <br />minutes. <br />2. Public Comment — None <br />3. Liaison Reports <br />Eileen Jay, liaison to the School Committee, reported that school has officially started. Most <br />students began on Monday, September 14' and there will be a phased -in approach with students <br />either learning remotely or in person. Lisa O'Brien inquired about an update on the status of high <br />school and middle school sports for the fall season. High school athletics will begin on Monday, <br />September 21St. Practices will be held during the week (Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays for <br />varsity teams and Tuesday/Thursday for JV and freshmen teams) and all games and matches will <br />be held on Saturdays due to transportation and bussing concerns associated with the COVID-19 <br />pandemic. Melissa Battite, Director of Recreation and Community Programs, noted that the <br />Lexington United Soccer Club (LUSO) made an accommodation to their schedule that will allow <br />for Lexington High School to use the Center Track Field for their games on Saturdays and she <br />added that the LHS golf team will be using the Lexington Golf Club and Stone Meadow Golf for <br />practices and matches, meaning they will not be requesting use of the Pine Meadows Golf Club. <br />Staff will be meeting with Naomi Martin, Lexington High School Athletic Director, and DPW <br />staff later this week to discuss the proposed fall 2 hybrid season, which is when football would <br />take place and is tentatively scheduled for February -April 2021. DPW traditionally does not <br />
