Town Celebrations Committee <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> August 19, 2020 <br /> Virtual Meeting <br /> Members Present <br /> June Baer, Chair; Glen Bassett, Suzanne Caton, Steve Cole, Wei Ding, Linda Dixon, Mary <br /> Hutton, Cerise Jalelian, Lorain Marquis, Julie Miller, Bill Mix, Geetha Padaki, Rita Pandey, <br /> Sandy Podgorski, Sue Stering <br /> Members Not Present <br /> Kim Coburn, Karen Gaughan, Gresh Lattimore, Sondra Lucente, Wayne Miller, Ashley Rooney, <br /> Sam Zales <br /> Business: <br /> • June convened the meeting at 7:08 pm and read the Town notice regarding the conduct of <br /> public virtual meetings. <br /> • The committee once again thanked Lorain Marquis for her leadership during the past 5 <br /> years. <br /> • The committee approved the minutes of 5/27/2020. <br /> • June noted that she will update the TCC member list and send it out to the committee. <br /> • Suzanne reported that storage space in the Community Center Carriage House has been <br /> assigned to the TCC and items, including the Patriots Day sponsor banners, have been <br /> moved into the space. Any committee members who still have items to be stored should <br /> contact Suzanne about moving them. <br /> Salute to Veterans Breakfast 2020: <br /> • The committee voted to cancel the traditional breakfast since the pandemic makes <br /> holding one this year impossible. June will inform the Select Board about our decision. <br /> She will also reach out to the Rotary Club to let them know. <br /> • The committee discussed various options for recognizing our veterans this year, including <br /> reaching out to the local Dunkin Donuts stores to ask about contributing gift cards. <br /> • The committee voted to investigate the possibility of sending letters and gift cards to the <br /> veterans. June asked committee members to let her know if they are interested in <br /> participating in this investigation. <br /> Veterans Day Parade and Program 2020: <br /> • Due to the pandemic, the committee agreed that any Veterans Day programming will <br /> probably have to be virtual this year. <br /> • Mary Hutton asked the committee members to email her with their ideas for virtual <br /> programming. She will follow up and schedule a virtual meeting with interested <br /> committee members. <br /> • Linda Dixon noted that it would be nice to include a tribute to Dan Fenn in the Veterans <br /> Day programming. Steve Cole volunteered to coordinate with the Fenn family about this. <br /> Mary suggested that any tribute video should be a maximum of 5 minutes in length. <br /> • The committee discussed other options for Veterans Day including having a volley fired <br /> by the Minute Men on the Green, ringing the USS Lexington bell on the Green, having <br /> veterans congregate on the Green (socially distanced) and having the Girl Scouts hand <br /> them carnations. <br />
