MINUTES <br /> FUND FOR LEXINGTON BOARD <br /> June 15, 2020 <br /> 4:00 p.m., held by remote participation <br /> Present: Doug Lucente, Chair; Suzie Barry; Norman Cohen; Alan Fields; Ed Grant; Paul Shupe; <br /> Melissa Interess, Director of Human Services; Tony Serio, Assistant Director of Family and <br /> Youth Services; and Kim Katzenback, Executive Clerk to the Select Board. <br /> Mr. Lucente stated the remote participation meeting is being held in accordance with Governor <br /> Baker's March 12, 2020 Executive Order suspending certain provisions of the Open Meeting <br /> Law to allow remote participation during Massachusetts' State of Emergency due to the outbreak <br /> of COVID-19. <br /> 1) Money Available as of May 31, 2020 <br /> Mr. Lucente reported that as of May 31, 2020, the Fund for Lexington Income balance was <br /> $25,221.62 and the Principal balance was $260,010.47. <br /> a. Report of Donations to Fund for Lexington COVID-19 <br /> At the March 23, 2020 the Fund for Lexington Board agreed that donations made from March <br /> 2020 until September 2020 would be made available to assist resident needs due to impacts of <br /> Coronavirus (Covid-19). Mr. Lucente reported that$31,457 has been donated to the Fund for <br /> Lexington during the period from March 15, 2020 through June 2, 2020. <br /> 2) Human Services Report: December 1 to May 31, 2020 <br /> Ms. Interess, Director of Human Services, reported the following activity for the funds dispersed <br /> for the period: Fund for Lexington - $2,665 for rent payment; $3,502.99 out of the Heating <br /> Assistance Pilot(Remaining balance - $2,497.01); Human Services Emergency Fund- <br /> $1,700.30; and Lexpress subsidized passes fiscal year- $10,360. <br /> Ms. Interess stated that the Human Services Emergency Fund currently has a healthy balance <br /> from which to provide financial assistance to residents affected by COVID-19. In addition to the <br /> $25,000 provided from the Fund for Lexington, a $250,000 donation from Takeda <br /> Pharmaceutical Company was deposited into the Human Services Emergency Fund. She also <br /> stated that the Lexington Housing Assistance Board dissolved its subgroup LeHAC and <br /> transferred LeHAC's funds of approximately $9,000 into the Human Services Emergency Fund. <br /> Ms. Interess reported that, to date, $35,947.60 has been disbursed from the Human Services <br /> Emergency Fund to assist 20 families in need due to COVID-19. She noted that the Human <br /> Services must first draw down from the Takeda donation. Ms. Interess asked the Board if they <br /> would like to continue to see the COVID-19 related assistance listed as a separate line item on <br /> the quarterly report provided to the Fund for Lexington Board. The Board was in agreement <br /> they would like to see it as a separate item on the report. <br /> Upon a motion duly made and seconded, by roll call, the Fund for Lexington Board voted 6-0 to <br /> separately track and report the COVID-19 donations and expenditures. <br />
