Town Celebrations Committee <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> May 27, 2020 <br /> Virtual Meeting <br /> Members Present <br /> Lorain Marquis, Chair; June Baer, Glen Bassett, Suzanne Caton, Wei Ding, Linda Dixon, Mary <br /> Hutton, Cerise Jalelian, Paul Jenkins, Sondra Lucente, Julie Miller, Bill Mix, Geetha Padaki, <br /> Sandy Podgorski, Sue Stering <br /> Members Not Present <br /> Kim Coburn, Steve Cole, Karen Gaughan, Gresh Lattimore, Wayne Miller, Rita Pandey, Ashley <br /> Rooney, Dave Taylor, Sam Zales <br /> Business: <br /> • Lorain convened the meeting at 7:08 pm and read the Town notice regarding the conduct <br /> of public virtual meetings. <br /> • The TCC confirmed their vote to become a collaborative partner with the Human Rights <br /> Committee. The vote was initially taken at the meeting of May 20. <br /> • Lorain asked TCC members to send her any invoices they may have for purchases for the <br /> committee so she can make a final consolidated report to the Select Board for payment. <br /> • The committee approved the minutes of the following previous meetings: 3/11/20, <br /> 5/6/20, 5/13/20, and 5/20/20. <br /> • Suzanne Caton was elected to continue as Committee Secretary upon her reappointment <br /> to the TCC sub-committee. <br /> • June Baer was elected to become Committee Chair upon Lorain Marquis stepping down <br /> from the position. Lorain will remain on the committee. <br /> • Suzanne reminded committee members to let her know if they have any TCC celebration <br /> items that need storage. <br /> • Paul reminded the committee that Flag Graphics in Somerville has been making parade <br /> banners for the committee for the last few years. <br /> • Glen Bassett volunteered to help move the existing banners from Paul's home to the new <br /> storage location when we have one. <br /> Memorial Day 2020 (May 25, 2020): <br /> • The committee discussed the Memorial Day 2020 video, which was very successful. <br /> • The committee thanked Mary Hutton for her leadership in developing the video, writing <br /> the script, and directing the final product. <br /> • Linda Dixon suggested that the committee send a letter to the Lexington Minuteman <br /> paper thanking Lex Media for their help in creating the video. Suzanne volunteered to <br /> write the letter. <br /> The committee thanked Lorain for her leadership during her tenure as chair of the committee. <br /> Committee members listed the following accomplishments made during her chairmanship: <br /> Veterans Day Celebrations: <br /> • Collaborating with the High School to encourage students to write essays about what <br /> Veterans Day means to them and publishing their essays in a booklet distributed at the <br /> Veterans Day ceremony, in order to increase participation by Lexington's youth. <br /> • Creating a slide show of Lexington veterans that is shown at the annual Veterans Day <br /> Breakfast. <br />
