<br /> A virtual meeting of the Recreation Committee was held on Wednesday,May 20, 2020 at 6:00pm
<br /> through the Zoom platform.
<br /> Members Present: Rick DeAngelis,Lisah Rhodes,Lisa O'Brien,Francesca Pfrommer, and Ruixi Yuan
<br /> Staff Present: Melissa Battite,Director of Recreation and Community Programs,Peter Coleman,

<br /> O'Shaughnessy (6 Brookwood Road, Lexington), and Ann Marie Gallo
<br /> 1. Meeting Minutes from May 7,2020
<br /> Lisah Rhodes moved and Ruixi Yuan seconded the approval of the Committee Minutes of May
<br /> 7th The Recreation Committee voted 5-0 to approve the May 7 minutes.
<br /> 2. Public Comment—None
<br /> 3. Liaison Reports
<br /> Suzie Barry, liaison from the Select Board, took a tour of the Center Track on May 20th. Ms.
<br /> Barry commended the Recreation Committee and staff for guidance throughout the project and
<br /> proclaimed that the facility is absolutely amazing. Rick DeAngelis, chairman of the Recreation
<br /> Committee, concurred with Ms. Barry's sentiments and added that this is a wonderful example of
<br /> what can be accomplished when people work together. Melissa Battite, Director of Recreation
<br /> and Community Programs, expressed her appreciation for the architect(Activitas) and contractor
<br /> (Heimlich) and all of their efforts throughout the project. Ms. Battite stated that the Town should
<br /> be very proud of this facility as it will serve the needs of all users for decades to come. The
<br /> project is anticipated to be completed by mid-June. Ms. Barry added that virtual Town Meeting
<br /> will be held on Monday, June 1st, Wednesday, June 3rd, and Thursday, June 4th
<br /> Eileen Jay, liaison from the School Committee, exclaimed that the Center Track will be a
<br /> wonderful resource for the whole community. Regarding school in the fall, Ms. Jay reported that
<br /> the State's education commissioner will provide guidance by the end of June. Dr. Julie Hackett,
<br /> Superintendent of the Lexington Public Schools,is currently looking at multiple options and
<br /> contingencies and is aiming to provide the School Committee with a report in late June. Sandy
<br /> Beebee, liaison from the Capital Expenditures Committee, expressed her praise for the Center
<br /> Track Project as well.
