I .a EoWn of lexington, 41a!5,arbU5ett!5 <br /> arwa�r OFFICE OF SELECTMEN <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> Whereas: Christopher"Chris"James Shaw, a 51 generation Lexingtonian, attended Fiske Elementary School, Diamond <br /> Middle School and graduated from Lexington High School in 2012;and <br /> Whereas: Chris developed a dedication to, and a love of, baseball at a young age playing for Lexington Little League, <br /> including on the 2005 Bay State League Championship Team and was also selected to play on an Eastern <br /> Massachusetts 12 year old All Star Team that competed in Cooperstown,NY;and <br /> Whereas: Chris went on to play baseball at Lexington High School,earning several accolades, including being named a <br /> 4-year Middlesex League All-Star, a Boston Globe Newspaper All-Scholastic Athlete, a Boston Herald <br /> Newspaper All-Scholastic Athlete, and was drafted in the 26' round of the 2011 Major League Baseball <br /> (MLB)Draft by the New York Mets at 18 years old;and <br /> Whereas: Chris went on to play baseball at Boston College making the All-ACC Team in his Sophomore and Junior <br /> years and also played for the Chatham Anglers in the Cape Cod Summer League and was voted the top New <br /> England Prospect. He was also voted to the Preseason All-America Team in 2015 and was drafted in the I" <br /> round of the 2015 Major League Baseball(MLB)Draft by the San Francisco Giants;and <br /> Whereas: Chris has been one of the San Francisco Giants top 4 prospects for the past 3 seasons and was called up to the <br /> San Francisco Giants Major League Baseball team on August 31, 2018, and again on September 1, 2019, and <br /> will have the opportunity to play Major League Baseball in the beloved Fenway Park in Boston,Massachusetts <br /> versus the Boston Red Sox on September 17, 18 and 19,2019;and <br /> Whereas: Chris was described by one of his former coaches as having the talent, the tools and the temperament to <br /> succeed in Major League Baseball. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, WE, THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN of the Town of Lexington,Massachusetts,do hereby <br /> recognize <br /> Christopher James Shaw <br /> and name Wednesday, September 18, 2019 as "Chris Shaw Day" in the Town of Lexington and encourage residents of all <br /> ages to work hard and follow their dreams. <br /> IN WITNESS WHEREOF, we have set our hands and caused the seal of Lexington to be affixed herewith on the 9th <br /> day of September. <br /> DOUGLA M CENTE,CHAIRM N JOSEPH WfATOM'^ <br /> ASUZANNE6BARRY JILL I. <br /> MARK D.SANDEEN <br />
