<br />Town of Lexington <br />Recreation Committee <br />Frederick DeAngelis, Chairman Tel: (781) 698-4800 <br />Lisah Rhodes, Vice ChairFax: (781) 861-2747 <br />Lisa O’Brien <br />Ruixi (Ray) Yuan <br />Francesca Pfrommer <br />Recreation Committee <br />Minutes of Meeting <br />January 15, 2020 <br />A meeting of the Recreation Committee was held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 7:00pm in the <br />Room 237 of the Lexington Community Center, 39 Marrett Road, Lexington. <br />Members Present:Rick DeAngelis, LisahRhodes, Lisa O’Brien,and Francesca Pfrommer <br />Members Absent:Ruixi Yuan <br />Staff Present:Melissa Battite, Director of Recreation and Community Programs, Peter <br />Coleman, Assistant Director of Recreation, and Chris Filadoro, DPW <br />Superintendent of Public Grounds <br />Others Present:Meredith Applegate (42 Reed Street, Lexington), Suzie Barry (Select Board <br />liaison), Colby Crogan (20 Garfield Street, Lexington), Carl Fantasia (217 <br />Waltham Street, Lexington), Eileen Jay (School Committee liaison), Keith <br />Ohmart (114 East Street, Lexington), and Paul Quattrochi (102 Pleasant Street, <br />Lexington) <br />1.Meeting Minutes from December18, 2019 <br />Lisah Rhodes moved and Francesca Pfrommer seconded the approval of the Committee Minutes <br />th <br />of December 18.The Recreation Committee voted 4-0to approve the December 18 <br />minutes. <br />2.Public Comment–None <br />3.Liaison Reports <br />The January Liaison Reports are attached to the meeting minutes.Lisah Rhodes reported that all <br />Recreation articles except for the Athletic Fields Feasibility Study were preliminarily approved <br />by the Community Preservation Committee (CPC) and the next CPC meeting is scheduled for <br />th <br />Thursday, January 16. Lisa O’Brien indicated that the installation of the Granite Forest at <br />Lincoln Park has been completed.Eileen Jay, School Committee liaison, had some questions for <br />the Committee regarding the Center Track and Field renovation project. Ms.Jay shared that in <br />recent weeks, the Town Manager and Town Counsel had determined that the WorthenRoad <br />practice field was not within the original scope of the project. As a result, the proposed <br />improvements will not be completed as part of this project, which was disappointing to members <br />of the School Committee as they believed that the Recreation Committee had made a <br />commitment to include the practice field in the project. Lisah Rhodes stated that while the <br />Recreation Committee advocated for the improvements to the practice field, once BondCounsel <br />said that they could not be done legally, the decision had been made at that point. Ms. Jay asked <br />how much the improvements would cost.Melissa Battite, Director of Recreation and Community <br />Programs indicated the quote that she had received was for $69,000, $44,000 of which was for <br /> <br />
