Visitors Center Project
Michelle Jarvis presented an updated proposal for exhibit design work in the new Visitors Center. She incorporated
feedback that she received from a previous Tourism Committee meeting. The committee discussed the proposed
content for either side of the information desk in the Visitors Center as well as the two screens behind the
information desk. Ideas for digital screen content included FAQ's that would be helpful to visitors. Members were
interested in replacing one map display with a new display that features tours, specifically the Liberty Ride tour, the
Lexington Historical Society house tours, and the Battle Green tours. The committee discussed the display area titled,
"Linger in Lexington."Preferences include the removal of the tear-off map from the wall and to replace the physical
bulletin board with an electronic bulletin board where events can be posted. In the revolutionary history room, the
committee discussed the concept of including a screen for special events and future functions. Members debated
including a permanent media display, but ultimately decided on a drop down screen and projector. The committee
also discussed proposed content for the exhibit, including key information and events that led up to Independence.
A motion was made to support the design behind the information desk. The motion was seconded and approved
unanimously.
A motion was made to recommend different content on either side of the information desk, instead of the proposed
duplicate information display. The motion was seconded and approved with a vote of 4-2.
A motion was made to strongly promote the Liberty Ride, Historic Houses and Battle Green Tours on one side of the
information desk, replacing one of the displays with duplicate content.
