YOUTH COMMISSION <br /> Members: 6 <br /> Appointed by: Town Manager,with Selectmen's approval <br /> Length of Term: 3 years <br /> Appointments made: April 30 <br /> Meeting Times: Once a month,usually on Thursday,with twice-monthly meetings when working on <br /> special events <br /> Description: The Youth Commission was established for the purpose of carrying out programs which may be <br /> designed or established to provide opportunities or to meet challenges and problems of youth in the town. Examples <br /> of such programs are: alcohol-drug education,youth recognition aWards,and recreational and community events. <br /> The Commission is mandated to appoint an advisory committee consisting of younger persons. <br /> Criteria for Membership: Open; one appointee between the ages of 18 and 21. <br /> Ref.: MGL Chapter 40 §8E;Article 66 of the 1977 Annual Town Meeting <br /> Selectmen designated as Special Municipal Employees on January 18,2006. <br />
