COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS <br /> Members: 11 <br /> Appointed by: Board of Selectmen <br /> Length of Term: 3 years(two term maximum) <br /> Appointments made: September 30 <br /> Meeting Times: Usually once a month <br /> Description: The Council for the Arts administers State Funds by soliciting and evaluating applications for funding <br /> from eligible recipients,distributing the funds,and insuring that they are properly used. It may also undertake <br /> projects intended to further the appreciation and support of the arts in Lexington. <br /> Criteria for Membership: Candidates should have an active interest in promoting the arts or should,themselves,be <br /> practicing artists. Committee membership should, insofar as possible,represent a broad range of the arts in which <br /> Lexingtonians participate. <br /> Ref.: Charge adopted by the Board of Selectmen on August 11, 1980. <br /> Revised to increase membership to 11 maximum. <br /> Selectmen designated as Special Municipal Employees on January 18,2006. <br />
