<br />MINUTES <br /> <br />FUND FOR LEXINGTON BOARD <br />March 12, 2018 <br />4:30 p.m., Dawes Room, Town Offices <br /> <br /> <br />Present: Doug Lucente, Chair; Suzie Barry; Norman Cohen; Edmund Grant; Paul Shupe; Alan <br />Wrigley; Charlotte Rogers, Director of Human Services; Melissa Battite, Director of Recreation <br />& Community Programs and Kim Katzenback, Executive Clerk Board of Selectmen. <br /> <br />1. Money Available as of 02/28/18: Income $ 10,590.83 <br /> Principal $ 328,300.76 <br /> <br />2. Human Services: <br />a. Human Services Report: December 31, 2017 to February 28, 2018 <br /> <br />Charlotte Rodgers reviewed the activity for the period. A general discussion was held <br />regarding the different sources of funds used to help residents who are in need of <br />assistance. During the reporting period $2,895 was dispersed from the supported <br />Living/Cred Card/LEHAC Fund, the money of which is provided by LexHab. <br /> <br />Melissa Battite stated that the scholarship fund which the Board established has been <br />a great success allowing children from low income families to attend Town sponsored <br />summer programs. She provided an overview how the funds were used to date. <br /> <br />3. Other Issues <br />a. Report on Annual Request for Funds <br />The Fund’s annual letter requesting donations for the Fund was sent in November <br />2017. As of the date this meeting, $29,848.68 has been deposited. <br /> <br />b. Request from Human Services for $2150 for Rent (March 2018). On a motion duly <br />made and seconded, it was voted 6-0 to approve $2150 for rent. <br /> <br />c. Request from Trustees of Public Trusts for $6,600 for Center Flower Barrels <br />downtown beautification project. On a motion duly made and seconded, it was voted <br />6-0 to approve $6,600 for the downtown beautification project – Flower Barrels. <br /> <br />d. Request from the Recreation Department for $15,000 from the Fund for Lexington to <br />be used for Recreation Scholarships. On a motion duly made and seconded, it was <br />voted 6-0 to approve $15,000 for the Recreation Scholarship. <br /> <br />At 5:00 p.m. Ms. Barry exited the meeting. <br /> <br />4. Next Meeting <br />The next meeting will be Monday, June 11, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. <br /> <br />5. Approval of December 12, 2017 Meeting Minutes. <br />On a motion duly made and seconded, it was voted 5-0 to approve the December 12, <br />2017 meeting minutes. <br />
