MINUTES <br /> FUND FOR LEXINGTON BOARD <br /> March 19, 2019 <br /> 4:30 p.m., Dawes Room, Town Offices <br /> Present: Doug Lucente, Chair; Suzie Barry; Norman Cohen, Ed Grant, Paul Shupe, Alan <br /> Wrigley and Melissa Interess, Director of Human Services; Tony Serio, Assistant Director of <br /> Family and Youth Services; Melissa Battite, Director of Recreation; and Kim Katzenback, <br /> Executive Clerk to the Board of Selectmen. <br /> 1. Money Available as of 022819 Income $ 20,825.76 <br /> Principal $301,050.47 <br /> 2. Human Services <br /> Human Services Report: December 1, 2018 to February 28, 2019 <br /> Melissa Interess reported on the activity for the period for the funds dispersed related <br /> to the Fund for Lexington, Human Services Emergency Fund, Recreation <br /> Scholarships and the Supported Living/Credit Card/LEHAC. <br /> Discuss Funding Process and Financial Eligibility <br /> Melissa Interess said there appears to be an up-tic in Human Services needs requests. <br /> General discussion ensued noting there may be other Trustee Funds, in addition to the <br /> Fund for Lexington, which could provide assistance for Human Services requests for <br /> residents in need. <br /> Request for Fund for the Human Services Emergency Fund <br /> Upon a motion duly made and seconded, it was voted 6-0 to approve $4,000 for the <br /> Human Services Emergency Fund <br /> Ratify Human Services Request- Relocation Funds <br /> Upon a motion duly made and seconded, it was voted 6-0 to ratify the vote for $1,850 <br /> Relocation Funds. <br /> 3. Other Issues <br /> Report on Annual Request for Funds <br /> The Fund's annual letter requesting donations was sent in November 2018. As of the <br /> date of this meeting, $22,942 has been deposited into the Fund for Lexington account. <br /> Request from Trustee of Public Trusts for Funds for Center Flower Barrels <br /> Downtown Beautification Project <br /> On a motion duly made and seconded, it was voted 6-0 to approve up to $7,000 for <br /> the downtown beautification project—Flower Barrels. The Board said they would <br /> like documentation submitted for all fund requests. <br /> Request from Recreation Department for Funds to be used for Recreation <br /> Scholarship. <br /> Melissa Battite stated that the scholarship fund which the Board established has been <br /> a great success allowing children from low income families to attend Town sponsored <br /> summer programs.
