Town Celebrations Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> June 5, 2019 <br /> Lexington Community Center <br /> Members Present <br /> Lorain Marquis, Chair; June Baer, Glen Bassett, Suzanne Caton, Linda Dixon, Karen Gaughan, Gresh <br /> Lattimore, Sondra Lucente, Julie Miller, Bill Mix, Geetha Padaki, Sandy Podgorski, Sue Stering, Bob <br /> Tracey, Wayne Miller <br /> Members Not Present <br /> Kim Coburn, Wei Ding, Mary Hutton, Cerise Jalelian, Paul Jenkins, Rita Pandey, Dave Taylor, Sam <br /> Zales <br /> Business: <br /> • The chair reported that a quorum was present and the meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm. <br /> • Minutes from the meeting of May 22, 2019 were approved. <br /> • Lorain announced that the equipment needed by the committee will be purchased. They include <br /> 10 short-range radios for the committee to use for managing future Patriots' Day parades; an <br /> LCD projector for use at the Veterans' Breakfast and TCC meetings; and a TCC banner. <br /> Lorain requested that all invoices be submitted to her by June 17. <br /> • TCC meetings will resume on 9/11/19. <br /> Memorial Day Recap: <br /> • Gresh Lattimore suggested that a short training session for the Boy and Girl Scouts <br /> participating in the wreath laying ceremonies should be held prior to the parade. <br /> • Gresh also wondered if TCC should set a minimum age limit for participating scouts. <br /> • Linda Dixon suggested that we should have a stakeholders' meeting before Memorial Day. <br /> Participants should include the Captain of the Minutemen (concerning the length of the reading <br /> of General Logan's order),the Lexington High School Marching Band leader, and Sam Doran. <br /> • Committee agreed that we need to be clearer on our directions for the location of the HS band <br /> and others during the parade and wreath laying ceremonies. <br /> • Linda noted that not enough wreaths were provided this year due to a mix-up in <br /> communications and she suggested that committee members should check with Lorain if they <br /> have any questions about such issues. <br /> • It was suggested that since the weather is often hot on Memorial Day, bottled water should be <br /> kept in either the Grand Marshal's car or the VFW car to be available for marchers. <br /> Elections <br /> The committee elected the following officers for next year: <br /> • Chair: Lorain Marquis <br /> • Vice-chair: June Baer <br /> • Secretary: Suzanne Caton <br /> The meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Suzanne Caton, co-secretary <br />
