Greenways Corridor Committee
March 21, 2019
Ellen Stone Room, Cary Hall
Lexington, Massachusetts

Members Present: Mal Crawford, Alex Dohan, Eileen Entin, Bob Hausslein, Keith Ohmart,
Mike Tabaczynski

Other Attendees: none

Votes: Minutes of February 21, 2019, meeting: Approved

Reports/Updates:
• New meeting room beginning in May - Hudson Room, upstairs in Cary Hall (downstairs will
be Visitor Center).
• Newton has been given a formal OK to use the ACROSS acronym for their trail network.
• David Lautzenheiser has spoken to Keith about consulting with Metropolitan Area Planning
Commission (MAPC) for use of ACROSS as a model.
• 0 Grove St/Jefferson Dr - the Developer sent a memo to the Town proposing that any fees
associated with trail creation come out of the $30,000 earmark. It makes more sense to use
those funds for the survey and permitting, since the trail will not be difficult to build and can
be done by volunteers. Once the Town agrees, there is a 14-month timeline, after which
funding will be withdrawn. It is unclear how many permits will be needed at this point, but at
least 2, since some of the work will be in Lexington and some in Burlington.
• Bridge School NOI, Peacock Farm Rd - both of these projects are still on Carol Kowalski’s
desk. GCC has agreed internally that Town should pay $200 mailing fees for Bridge project.
Keith will continue to follow up.

Current Business:
• Next Route discussion - Looked at #13, which has wetlands between Sanderson and Maple,
and behind Harrington School. Friends of Arlington Great Meadow likes the proposed route,
but will put on hold till Hayden Woods is finished and Grove St is settled. Should be able to
work on this (#13) in the next 2 years.
• #3 and #10 could connect Rte J and Rte B. Will link Dunback Meadow, Bowman School,
Daisy Wilson Meadow, and the Bikeway. Once final route agreed, this will be fairly simple to
install as Route L. Sign locations need to be determined, sign permissions granted from Con-
servation Commission in the Conservation properties, and Dig Safe called for post installa-
tion. Also need to have a conversation with the Bowman principal about where they prefer
the trail to run across school grounds. At least one more walk is needed to confirm final
route. Discussion of unaccepted streets as trails - viable or not?

New Business:
• Spring route survey - to be determined via email.
