SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br /> January 15, 1962 <br /> A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was <br /> held in the Selectmen' s Room, Town Office Building, <br /> on Monday, January 15, 1962, at 7:30 P.M. Chairman <br /> Morey, Messrs . Adams , Ferguson, Richards and Cole <br /> were present . Mr. Stevens , Town Counsel, Mr . Carroll, <br /> Superintendent of Public Works, Mr. Staples, Executive <br /> Assistant, and Miss Murray, Executive Clerk, were also <br /> present . <br /> Mr. Stevens reportedthat H-102 filed for the con- <br /> Arlington struction of the Arlington Relief sewer is on for a <br /> Relief Sewer hearing February 15. He has written Representative <br /> bill Buckley calling it to his attention . <br /> With reference to land takings made by the State <br /> in connection with the construction of Route 128, Mr . <br /> Stevens explained that the method the Attorney General <br /> is applying is for the parties to attempt to agree and <br /> if they cannot agree, the matter is referred to a Board <br /> of Review in the Department of Public Works, whose de- <br /> Land takings dision shall be final. He advised that an attempt <br /> by State should be made to reach an agreement with the DeparLment <br /> of Public Works and if an agreement is not arrived at, a <br /> request should be made to have it referred to the Board <br /> of Review. He recommended that appraisals be made . <br /> Mr.Carroll reported that Mr. Berglund' s appraisal <br /> of the Baskin land was $1830 . <br /> Mr . Stevens mentioned that some arrangement should <br /> be made to pay an appraiser. <br /> Mr . Ferguson suzgested that Mr. Carroll ask Mr. <br /> Berglund to make the appraisals for a certain fee . <br /> Mr . Carroll agreed to contact M . Berglund to see <br /> whether or not some arrangement can be made with him. <br /> Mr. Stevens reported on the outcome of the McCormack- <br /> McCormack- Brun case ; a verdict of $21 ,000. He said he would advise <br /> Brun case the Board later what his final recommendation is . <br /> Letter from the Federal Aviation Agency' s remote <br /> control facility was held over. <br /> Violation of the Historic Districts Act by maintenance <br /> of the Lexington Nursery sign was held over . <br /> Letter was received from the School Sites Committee <br /> advising that the Committee plans to have four articles <br />
